Duke is 10-0 and faces undefeated Pitt on Thursday night. I watched Pitt over the weekend against Oklahoma St. They are a team that reminds me a lot of the LSU team that beat Duke and JJ in 2006. They have a big, thick, strong inside precense with their center who reminds me of Big Baby and athletes at every other position. They play aggressive, hard nose defense and will get after their opponent and shake them at times if they let them. These are the type of teams (LSU, Michigan St, UNC Va Tech) that have given Duke teams trouble in the last 3-4 years. This year Duke has a team and the weapons (depth, multiple scorers, quickness, outside shooters) that can get into the fight!!! Should be a great measuring stick for this Duke team.

Hmm so this is what I got out of this game. Pitt really has no rythm to their offense. They rely on their guards to play streetball and get to the rack, while their big men are good offensive rebounders they can't finish close to the hoop. On the defensive end Pitt can be very strong at times and incredibly lazy at others. Duke definitely took advantage of Pitts lazy defense. They couldn't do anything when Pitt hustled on D, but could get to the hoop whenever they pleased when Pitt was apparently celebrating their offensive play. To be honest neither team really impressed me. I think both teams lose to teams with strong big man play i.e. (North Carolina ) and Georgetown for Pitt. Players that impressed me and those who didn't...Paulis, Nelson, and Henderson are very tough players that can get to the hoop and make plays. I was very impressed by these 3, but Singler...not so much. He needs to stay outside and shoot his 3's because when he gets down low and play gets a little physical he turns into a pansy. The other frosh big man on the floor was Blair from Pitt. He was a man tonight and I really enjoyed watching him play. He stepped up and got offensive rebound after offensive rebound. He did make some foolish fouls though. Definitely pleased with the outcome as Pitt came out on top. Can't remember the exact score even though it was on just 5 minutes ago. I'm thinking the score was 65-64 Pitt as they hit a 3 at the end to win it. Duke could have put the game away but they missed some key free throws down the stretch both in regulation and overtime.

millhouse.....
Many of your college teams play this way....North Carolina comes to mind....last year's Buckeyes also......I don't like it, but the dribble, pentrate dish or shoot is the offense of the future.....that and shooting the 3!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is true flounder, but they can't rely on shooting an outstanding percentage every night (my Chicago Bulls can attest to that). The Dukies need to get more physical. Unless someone from Duke can step up and be a REAL inside presence (Singler is not) they will continue to get outrebounded and fall to the great teams.
