The two teams have met up in tournament 5 times with Fairview taking 3 of the 5 games. The teams have also met up twice in the regular season with OG taking both wins in 1965 and 1966. So overall OG leads this series 4-3.

Fairview beat OG in 1989 in a district semi at ONU by a score of 50-48, titans avenged that loss in 1991 at Defiance by a score of 78-76.

Titans enter the game 14-6, Apaches 6-15. This is the 6:15 game at Defiance HS.

any pre- game thoughts and predictions welcome.

Depends on which OG team shows up! Titans should win by 25+. But I didn't think they would get waxed by Grove.

I'm kind of surprised that Fairview is 3-2 in the tournament against O-G.

The 1991 game was a classic come from behind win led by Bill Burgei scoring something like 23 points in the last quarter and 3 minute overtime to pull out a win. However the following night the Apache girls team beat O-G girls team in the district final at Kalida so it was an interesting weekend for both schools.

That team hasn't showed up since that game. That's why the game wasn't the end of the world then and in a lot of ways has contributed to the success they've had the rest of the season.

Fairview had some very good teams in the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's. They always seemed to have a lot of tall players who could play. Declining enrollment has taken a toll on them in recent years. OG will be a heavy favorite in this game.

There are not a lot of schools wanting to host tournament games. Defiance does seat just over 2,000, about the same as Ottawa. Unless Ottawa brings 1,700 people, I would not expect a sellout.

I think the O-G fans have EARNED the right to talk. And besides, like Vic said(and I can't believe I'm agreeing on something with him), it's not just Ottawa people calling this a blowout. Myself included. We in Defiance played both teams....and if Fairview hangs within 15-20 it'll be a surprise to me.

Anyway, I normally root for Defiance County schools come tournament time. But I root for the WBL even more. Let's Go Titans!

GO TITANS
3 losses since the Grove game are to Defiance, Elida, and Perrysburg, 2 teams that are more talented and 1 that shot lights out at home where OG has always struggled. My point is this is not the most talented team to come out of OG. But the team that didn't show up in BG played with no heart. Everyone wants to point out the 0 for 21 from 3 that game. I would bet the coaches didn't mention that once during the morning afters 4 hour practice. They are a good team that when they play hard will beat who they should and need things to bounce their way to beat the "great" teams. But when they give subpar effort, they can lose to anyone on any given night.
