Coach B,
I can understand why some like this sport . The bottom line is not many do or ever will in this neck of the woods. The numbers just are not there. Even after Tom Jeffire bought his kid a national championship at U. of F. the hype has not been there. And trust me we don't want to argue the fact of the previous statement. Then we would have to get into the Hancock Hall Of Fame issue and that is a can of worms the daily astonisher AKA the courier couldn't handle. I like your spunk but not in our lifetime will it be IOWA in HANCOCK COUNTY or the surounding area.

Hancock County and Iowa...no way. I understand that. But there is a hardcore base of HS fans in this area like any of the "other" sports. Does it compare to basketball and football, in no way shape and form. Let me rephrase that...Hell no.

But in Ohio, there are more fans willing to travel to Columbus to watch the boys state wrestling tournament than are willing to go there for the state girls basketball tourney.

As far as I am concerned, there's room at the table of plenty for everyone. Not everyone can hoop. Just five kids are on the floor at anyone time and there's no room on the team for the 5-2, 112 pound kid or the 5-10, 275 pounder. They need the opportunity to do something if they want to...wrestling fits that niche.

I guess I like it for the one-on-one competition, the combat and discipline involved. You get what you put into it and don't have to depend on your teammates.

As far as the HAncock Sports Hall of Fame goes ... that's not my baby. Thank goodness.

Coach B, I'm glad you like wrestling. It really tests the strength, heart, and desire of a young man. It will get you in top-notch shape and anyone of any size can do it, as long as they have the work ethic to wrestle. It's my favorite sport to do and watch. It teaches you discipline and humility. Wrestling is one of the greatest sports ever.
