I can understand that he may have wanted to go back to the college ranks after the season he has had to endure with the falcons so far, but to just all of a sudden resign from the falcons and the same night be introduced as the new coach at arkansas is rediculous. He didn't even have the guts to personally tell his team what he was doing, he had to tell them with a letter. What a coward.
If I were a parent of a child that was planning on going to Arkansas to play football I would not allow my kid to play for a like him. You just can't believe anything that comes out of his mouth. I mean in just the last 18 months he's signed a 10 year extension to stay at louisville, which he then quit on to go and sign a five year deal to coach the falcons, which 13 games into the regular season he signs a 5 year deal to coach arkansas.

Yeah, definitely pretty shady. Although if he was going to leave Atlanta at the end of the season, he'd miss out on some valuable recruiting time as well as some time spent with the players Arkansas has now. Plus, I think he'll be the coach in their bowl game, won't he? It'll give him a chance to try and convince McFadden and/or Felix Jones to stay in school and play for him next year.
I admit, it's pretty shady how it is has all gone down in things with him involved, but I don't think ANYONE would want to be in the situation with the Falcons right now, so I can't blame him for jumping ship.

Yeah...I saw that cheer. Made me fear ever going to Arkansas.

So much for contracts
July 6, 2006
Bobby Petrino signs a 10-year 25-millon dollar extension to stay at Louisville.
Petrino insisted on including a $1 million buyout clause, the first buyout that Jurich ever has put into a Louisville contract.
"We did want to make a statement," Petrino said. " ... I also wanted to make sure that everyone understood — and I know I've said it — that this is where my family wants to be and where I want to be. But I want everyone to really believe it when it is said." (USA Today)
Jan 8, 2007
Bobby Petrino announces he's leaving UL to sign a 5-year 24-million dollar deal to coach the Atlanta Falcons.
"I am excited about the challenge that awaits me in Atlanta, and I'm equally excited about the potential that I see in this team," he said. (AP)
Dec 12, 2007
Bobby Petrino announces he's stepping down as coach of the Atlanta Falcons to sign a 5-year 14.5-million dollar deal to coach at Arkansas
"It was one of the most difficult things I've had to do," he said. "I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that I made the right decision." (AP)

2. If he takes it, he would have been fired the next day by the Falcons.

Won...Actually I believe on ESPN I heard that one of Arkansas' long time assistants will be coaching the Bowl game, but I am sure Petrino will be on the sidelines.
