they just got tired of bashing the ap poll at end of season. pick the top 2 teams in each region and youll have a good gauge of how the poll would look.
I mean that's the way I would do it as well. Great chance to have many teams in final 4 with this method.

Kaizen,
Not true on how the Flounder & Rocketman's rankings were/are assembled...over the years a lot of thought and hard
work went into our rankings and we did not rank "by region" as you say....

Quote

For the 13th consecutive year the
"Flounder & Rocketman's" Girls HS Rankings return.....by my recollection this is the longest-running
collaboration going when doing a state-wide ranking of girl's teams.....well, 2nd longest if you care to count the
AP :bag: version that appears sometimes in January.......Flounder and I have been following this game a
long time and we are considered the pre-eminent source in the entire state of Ohio....... there might be others who
might want to lay claim to this, but our loyal followers
KNOW the truth.........today marks our return to the hardwood and we will be bringing you the best rankings with
our great insight and input that has set us apart for all these years..............I'm sure that Flound will be along
later tonight or possibly tomorrow after his wife and daughter have left for the day shopping........ we also know
that a few others have had their rankings out for a week or so, so technically we aren't the
first rankings of the year to make the news.........but one
thing I do KNOW..........we have the best rankings and again at the end of the year when you page back through all the
forums you'll find that for the 13th consecutive year that the "Flounder & Rocketman's" Rankings will again top the
list.........WE KNOW GIRLS BASKETBALL!......RM We start this off in Division I where the reigning state champs are comfortably perched at the top.......the Firebirds bring back a lot of firepower and it will take some kind of team to dethrone them this year........Cincy Princeton has been one of the darlings the last few years and maybe
this is their year...........in Division II it looks like it will take a while for Hathaway Brown to jell, so for now I've kept them out of the rankings and one of the few times that I can ever remember that a defending champion isn't in our rankings..........Clyde, W. Holmes, Alter, and Rogers will be the
heavyweights in this division and Alter has gotten it done in the past......
In Division III the girls from Africentric have their sights set on a championship.........it certainly won't be a cakewalk but they look like as big a favorite as I can find in the 4 divisions........and finally in D4, and one in which Flounder and I annually excel it looks like a 3 or 4 horse race right now.........Fort Loramie, Convoy Crestview, Marion Local, New Knoxville, and Minster from our portion of the state will be very formidable...
Lake Ridge Academy is a team that has been off the charts for awhile as they ran into a slight problem with the OHSAA but look to be out for revenge this season.......never count out Berlin Hiland and last year Newark Catholic had a very nice run..........so get your "lap bands" cinched up for the ride that is to come.........
and when all the dust has settled come the middle of March, just remember where you heard it from...........thanks RM
Statewide Division I
Kettering Fairmont

Berlin Hiland
Marion Local
Lake Ridge Academy
New Knoxville
Minster
Shadyside (oops, forgot this was girls basketball)
New Riegel
Zanesville Rosecrans
Reedsville Eastern

these were our initial 2013 rankings.....5 of my top 10 in D4 were NW Ohio....only 2 in D2
certain areas of the state typically dominate in certain divisions....The SW and NE (with the SW doing the most
damage) in D1 are the areas of the strongest teams and are therefore more heavily weighted....in NW Ohio, the small
schools do extremely well, hence the 5 teams.....thanks RM

For some reason, girls hoops are just not as talked about as guys. They main reason is that most just can't take criticism of female athletes like they can guys. Many get overprotective and take it personal when you criticize girls. And, with girls especially this year, there are ALOT of bad basketball teams out there. Look at your own school, if your best female athletes are not on the basketball floor, chances are your team isn't very good. Pretty simple.

Donny, I do not believe this site is dying, I checked others, and they're activity is down too this year. Why, I do not know? I guess like Common Sense said, less interest. Plus, it is a lot of work to maintain a site like this for free. RM must work his arse off. I love this site, keeps me informed from out here. Thanks, Rocket. Plus the teams in NW Ohio are down, except for Bath.

I've been on here for 3 or 4 years the only time it's been busy is when arlington went to state and their fans were on here all the time. Got tired of hearing how good they were but at least they had pride and werent afraid to show it, even at my expense at times. Kinda miss those days. But I'll stick to what I said earlier like it or not this site is almost dead.

Donny - long time, no talk. I am alive and well, but have elected to not post about Arlington for reasons we discussed a year or two ago. Time to be a parent and enjoy the game. However, I know you miss the banter about Atown basketball!! Looking forward to seeing you NR team soon @ Arlington.

Also, Von do you really believe there are no good teams in the area? While there may not be any elite teams, I have seen some very good teams this year. Liberty Benton, Ada, USV, Carey, Ottoville, Riverdale, Leipsic, and even the Atown girls are pretty good this year. Not sure I would say that the teams are way down this year, maybe you need to get out more and watch :nerd:

Hey Post,

You must not read much on here or know the posters that well. Von is not coming to "A Town" anytime soon to watch the girls.....he lives on the west coast!! That would be a long ride 😎

Von, always like reading your posts and think it's cool that you are interested and still check in on NW Ohio hoops. I take it you played ball for Coach K? That's damn good enough for me......I think the world of RLK!

I don't think Crestview is "down." They should make a long tournament run...possibly a final four. Bath and Crestview are the two best in our area IMO.
