Wow. I remember the ladder at Malinta (I went to elementary there) but I had no idea it lead to the locker rooms. That's hilarious.

And the House of Heat is a beautiful place!

I had BBall practice a few times at Malinta. Never went on the stage but the ceiling is super low and isnt the floor concrete?

For Fort Recovery, the toughest gym to win at is The vatican at DSJ. Last year FR won a butt-ugly game there-and I think it was only the 2nd time ever that FR won at DSJ. The other time was back in the mid-80's.

With tournament time right around the corner what are some great tourney gyms, atmospheres, memories, etc.

Anderson Arena is the first that comes to mind. Other great venues are the Elida fieldhouse and I definitly can't forget the OG vs. Lebron games up in Toledo.

Anderson Arena was amazing. So many great memories from Archbold's regional runs, I still think Napoleon is my favorite for district games, great atmosphere.

Anderson arena I have three vivid memories; 2005, Danny Borcherdt hitting a three at the end of regulation to send Archbold to overtime, in a regional semi-final game against Elmwood. We were down 8 with under a minute to go. Two buckets, a free throw, and a three point later, and we were headed to overtime, and a victory.
Then in 2006, David Borcherdt hit a three pointer to win the game against the unbeatean, ranked team from Johnstown Monroe, to send us to a back to back final four appearance.
Then last year, even though we lost to Columbus Africentric in the regional final, it was the last ever high school tournament game played in Anderson Arena before it closed for good.

Have to say though that Wauseon's gym and the House of Heat, were the two worst. Especially when they were sold out against Archbold, my goodness, it was like being inside a furnace with wall to wall people. After seeing a few games at PH, I no longer feel the need to go watch another game there. I can honestly say I had never been so happy to go outside in frigid temps after a game, after the 2008 game there.

The House Of Heat is a much cooler place now,2 yrs ago we changed the lighting system and went too all flurescent plus home crowd attendance is down,once in a great while it will get a little warm but not too bad.

Ummm wheres the ALL Mighty Findlay Liberty Benton! I have NEVER seen Liberty Benton lose at home, ever. Kalideoscope? hmm yeah it is kalida, but Idk if they deserve a spot on the list. Old gyms, you gotta love'em. I remember watching a game in Pandora's old gym. they had like 200-300 raised up buck seats and 3-4 feet high raised bleachers on the other side. I heard FORT Jennings had a nice old gym too. Does anyone have a picture of FJ's gym?

Love how loud the old gyms got compared to the new, bigger gyms

When PH would come to the old Holgate gym there would be standing room only and you would have a headache before the game started because it was so loud in there.

And............of course..........the "temptation" to shove one of the smaller players (like your's truly "back in the day anyway") was to shove you to the end by the ladder opening and cause considerable embarssement!

Kalida, Miller City, Fort Jennings, Vaughnsville, Hogalin-Jackson, Grove Hill all had cracker boxes. For you real oldtimes, old, old Ottoville gym before the on with 2 by 4 ends, had a track around it, and you could not shot from the corner or you hit the roof. What a difference a few years make. The DJ stage was around when I played, so was the Vatican (hard place to win there).
