Here on out comes down to scouting/coaching/executing. Scores below 110 from here on out in DIV are the norm.

Why are scores so low now for most games? Can these teams not play in the 40's and not feel it is too crazy? Is the defense that good and scoring down. I can't figure out why games slow down so much.

It looks like Mansfield St Pete and McComb ran up and down. Does Lincolnview play slow or was that mostly Fayette? I am trying to figure out if I want to go Friday. I would prefer not to watch a 32-30 game.

Two reasons to me:
1. Coaches are nervous about playing up-tempo when they're being criticized about every possession mattering. They'd rather slow it down & try to score on every single possession. They're going for quality of shot, rather than quantity of shots.
2. Teams aren't deep enough to go up-tempo. The faster the pace, the more subs are needed. If a team is 5-6 deep, they have to slow it down to keep those players on the floor, as opposed to a team that's 9-10 team and can throw two waves of lineups at an opponent without much drop-off.

Watched the Fayette-L'View game....ouch. Fayette fans had to leave thinking "That's the #1 team in the state?" and L'View fans left thinking "how did that team only have one loss?" Score was stuck at 27-17 fooorrreeevvvveerrrr....partially due to for whatever reason L'View deciding to pull it out & play into Fayettes hands. Guard play by both teams was average (at best for Fayette) & why L'view didn't press more, I have no idea..Fayette was struggling to beat it. I know nerves play into games like this but it actually got worse as the game went on

Yeah, I thought the nerves would wear off in the 2nd half and Lincolnview and the lancers would stretch the lead against the #3 team in the state in d4 (Fayette)

Nothing will get a shot clock instituted in high school quicker than these games continuing to be in the 30's. There are so many ways answer why this happens...
-Coaches over-control the game. They are involved in every set, every play, every decision and they WANT to keep it close so they have a chance to win at the end.
-Kids playing in an arena like the Stroh Center which is nothing like any gym they played in all year.
-Continued lack of calls as officials don't want to be a determining factor. Watch a high school game these days, does anyone get a shot in the paint without getting nudged, pushed, hacked or knocked down? Also, watch the screens and how the cutters are knocked down by the good defensive teams. If you cut that out and actually make teams defend people without being physical, they scores will go up automatically.
