It looks like they are missing the stadium -seats on both sides, lights, walkways, concessions, and maybe restrooms. At least $2,000,000 more to complete this. Has the money been raised? What is the timeline?

Why so negative? Eventually the funding will be raised and St. Marys will have the finest stadium in the area. No one likes change, but this is good change. Stop whining and start helping.

Looks like the soccer teams just hit the lottery. What a great field to play on and not have to share it with the football teams. That is until they get some bleachers.

Why didn't they just put the Field Turf in at Skip Baughman?

You know....I wouldn't mind that. Bring back some JV game memories from out in the middle of nowhere with no seating. Just a chorus of thousands of people sitting and watching the game with some beer in hand. It would be like Woodstock for high school football.

They need to build a hill on the south side of that new stadium and put railroad tracks on it! 10 lane track was a little much seeing that Jesse Owens only has 9 and most schools have 8.

Correct, they took out the tennis court by the field.... Supposedly from what I hear, it is supposed to look like Sidney's locker room entrance combo

They used to have them up on the other side of the school, it took a good 10 minutes to get there.

There were also tennis courts right beside the field, across road from the pool.
So it there any sort of time table for the new St. Marys field?

It's a great place to watch a game. Being a CW homer, I love Cavalier Stadium, despite what some folks may see as its shortcomings.

Sounds like there won't be any more work done in St Marys until they get a few more dollars and cents. Right now the plan is to either play games at Baughman this fall, or play the games at the new field and have a live video news feed to a jumbo-tron at Baughman so the fans can watch from there. Since the fans in SM want to stay at Baughman, this may be a permanent solution.
I imagine that they will choose to put the Jumbo-tron on the South side of the field so the fans on the tracks will not be able to watch for free.
I kind of feel sorry for the SM Athletic Boosters. Moving their field is not a popular choice, so raising funds has to be more difficult than other schools. Having been through this (granted, it was 10 years ago and the economy was MUCH better) it's not easy for any community to raise that kind of money. Add in the state of the current economy and the fact that most SM football fans want to stay at Baughman, well, good luck Booster Club!

I'd rather shower at Penn State than root for Michigan.

They could put up a trailer park out there around the field and everyone could sit on top of their trailers. Plus stay with me stay with me they could drink! Isnt this why alot of people are mad because they cant go to games and drink.

The way St Mary's has played in some of the past few seasons, drinking is what made going to the games palatable. It stuns me that the fans would not want to attend the games at a new and modern stadium when the current one has seen better days.

Why didn't they turf the old site and renovate? Everything was already there plus it was in town. Easy access from certain locales. I guarantee the reno would not have cost as much as the new will - and would still have had a stadium/field as good as any in the WBL.

Perhaps they wanted it closer to the new school.
