Maybe a merger wouldn't include everybody. In the end, each school has to look

for themselves.

Weren't you critical of the NWC for taking that stance? Or do I Have you mixed up with someone else...

But I do agree with that statement.

I totally believe that at this point it's every school for itself

Different situation. In this case those left behind by Mohawk, Carey, and Seneca East need somebody to play. The other was discussed ad nauseum.

Maybe some of the remaining MAL members will be invited into another league in the near future. You certainly will not see a merger between the MAL and BVC.

I am now convinced there will be a split between remaining MAL schools

The MAL's future is bleak. The question is which remaining MAL schools is left out in the cold.

Calvert and SJCC, are my thought as far as being left out. Let's face it - they are private schools and we know how that comes across to the general public anymore.

They could be left out for those reasons, but historically and even recently they have not exploited the voucher system and recruiting like other private schools have. I'd say they may be left out because of the geograhics. Tiffin would have a better opportunity than Fremont for a league in the Findlay area.

Have to admit I am more than a little concerned about where New Riegel fits in if the league does fail to bring in new teams. We compete very well in all sports but do not have football and some leagues will not want a non football school.

Actually I think a school like New Riegel has a better chance of getting in somewhere because they don't have football. It's much easier to work the schedule when you have 20+ games (like basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball). It's just one less NL game an AD needs to worry about.

The BVC schools play MAL schools 26 times this year in boys basketball (although a few of those are against outgoing Carey and Mohawk). Arcadia leads the way by playing nine MAL teams. Neither Leipsic or P-G play an MAL team. McComb, Van Buren and Hardin Northern each play four teams, Cory-Rawson three.

I would agree that SJCC has no shot at fitting in a Findlay area league. I mentioned that before.

Carey, Mohawk and Seneca East will have very limited NL scheduling since it's a 10-team NBC with a double round robin.

Man, sounds like these talks are further down the track than most know. I agree SJCC and maybe Calvert fit better in Firelands. I could see HL looking to BVC. NB and maybe Lakota may look to TAAC as they fit better there. NR, OF, SW who knows as NR and OF do not have football and SW may not have it much longer. I could see BVC looking at HL hard as they know Vanlue and HN day sof football are numbered.

Curious - has Riverdale's BOE approved the move to the N10? I can't remember if I saw where they did that or not.

Riverdale might exit their new league before they ever play their first league game.

I think Elgin's still hoping that's the case

Sounds like the BVC has rejected expansion talk

Now that's a shocker.....

I had heard the subject was going to be presented to the entire league back in early January, but never heard anything else about it, so I figured it was going nowhere fast.

Shocker no. Good decision? They'll find out. As I understand no school were mentioned, it was the idea in general being brought up. It essentially puts a lot of faith in Vanlue and HN come football season going forward. I thought if they had the chance to get Riverdale and Hopewell-Loudon they might consider.

I wouldn't even consider SW because they are going to have to play football as an indy anyway. I think the remaining MAL football playing schools are looking now for a football only deal.
