Post-
If you look at the non-conference records of the NCC teams, you'd see that there are teams within the NCC that get a lot of their wins by playing weaker opponents. Riverdale has only ONE non-conference win...against Carey. I'd say that the NCC is down this year, and Riverdale is down this year. However, keeping tougher non-conference teams on the schedule helps prepare for the tourney when the conference isn't up to par. Since the Arlington game, we have not lost...but like I said, the NCC opponents haven't been as tough as in the past. I'm hoping that the girls are at least gaining confidence going into the sectional. We do have tradition, thank goodness. North Baltimore may not be the toughest, but they did give us a loss to open the season. Hopefully we can get some payback.

Red Devils had a tougher time with the Blue Devils than expected. Someone else is going to have to step up as they will keep seeing box and one on A Recker. Good luck on your tourney

If you go back to the string from last years "BVC POY" PostPlayer says (and I quote), "I agree, - however, Brunswick isn't as glamourous as a pick in most eyes. I, for one, believe she is the POY pick hands down. No other player in our conference brings the total package she has plus she sits on the
BVC championship team. A point guard that can shoot, beat you off the drive and always plays the best guard on the opposing team..........normally shuts down the opposing teams best player."

Sounds a lot like the Craft girl from LB this year, huh? But Post player is lobbying for a Co-POY? I know Post Player from his HS days and this does not surprise me......

I hear LB won the BVC and the Craft girl was pretty dominant all year. Sounds to me like there is no question......but Post will come up with some argument that the Recker girl lead the league in scoring between the 5th and 3rd minutes in the third quarter all year, or some other useless fact.

I'd guess Craft wrapped it up last week vs. Arcadia, taking over in the 4th quarter. League champ, best player, hard not to give it to her. However, I still wouldn't mind seeing co-players of the year. Amelia Recker is as important to Arlington as Craft is to LB.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Co-POY, but stats can be deceiving... Take last year for example, sure the POY had amazing stats, but look at the "BIG" games.. the most recent being against a very good DJ team. She was NONEXISTENT all game, and had many more like that. Just shows how much stats can be skewed by dominating vs. sub-par teams. I'm not sure she was the best player on her team. I'm not trying to say Recker or Craft deserve it over the other because both are HUGE assets to their team, just that stats aren't everything, and no offense to Post's opinions...

I guess my next question then is the POY selected from the 9 conference games or the entire 20 game season? Some kids pile up great stats against non-conference opponents?

Good point Common Sense, IMO league play only should be taken into consideration. For the most part I think it is league play, but its hard to say if non-league games are taken into consideration.

Anyway... not sure why this POY talk has taken over so many threads... It is one individual award and I'm sure both players could careless at this point in the season. LB and ARL have both had amazing seasons and it is a bummer they played so early... would've made for a GREAT game late in the year.

Good luck to both teams in the postseason and all the schools representing NW Ohio.
