milt73~ I guarantee I know of some coaches that would LOVE to have the program, but at Elida if a staff member applies for the job they get it whether they can coach or not!

NDLOVER, you're completely off base with your argument. Think about it in common sense terms. If you have a kid getting touches 9 months out of the year and a kid who gets touches 4 months out of the year? If they started out at the same skill level, who's going to be better?
It's an interesting thing that you guys go from 'King's a horrible coach' to 'King doesn't like kids who don't play club' to 'club's great but kids shouldn't do it because it ruins their childhood and create's an unfair advantage to our kids who don't play club.' and on and on and on. I honestly don't understand your argument. A good coach wants his kids to play club ball, period.
You honestly think that a coach is going to play 'worse' kids than the 'better' ones because the kid that isn't as good plays club and the other not? A coach isn't going to sacrifice W's for that.
Orange pants, ndlover, darkknight, question. If your kids wanted to play club because it's what they wanted to do, would you let them or would you not because you thought it was being shoved down their throat?

I'm not saying which is right. It depends on the individuals involved. But alter your expectations according to the input. If only some players are playing club and others are choosing other sports, expect to be competitive and expect good solid play. But championships are going to be tough to win.
Now, if the kids get on the floor and their skills are horrible and they don't look like they know what they're doing, that's a coaching problem. I have seen Elida play several times. That's not the problem with Elida. I think Coach King is doing a good job with his kids. That's why I said the problem in Elida is over-expectation.

Still believe that hs coaches expect certain skill levels due to clubs and when they don't get it really don't know how to handle it. Have seen several "athletes" with great potential either ride the pine or see little playing time cause coach will not spend the time in practice to develop them. These kids either can't afford clubs or play multiple sports and time does not allow the clubs!

Whoever mentioned that there are a lot of coaches who want to just rely on clubs to teach technique etc. hit it dead on.
