Defiance High School, known for their distance running dominance over the years in both girls and boys is once again blessed with talent. Megan Vogelsong, a Senior 3200m runner has now broken the DHS school record in two consecutive meets in less than great conditions.

Saturday, running without competition and once again fighting a stiff wind, lapped ALL but the #2 runner in finishing the race in 11:20. The #2 runner was only 20m in front of Megan when Megan crossed the finish line. After the race, she jogged around the finish area doing stretches while waiting for the rest of the field to finish. All this after finishing the 1600m in 1st place with a very good time of 5:27.4 and anchoring the 4 x 800m relay team that finished 1st with a time of 9:54.6.

I'm wondering, is anyone going to touch her this year in the 3200?

You get to the NEXT level only by being successful at the CURRENT one. Play today's game first, enjoy the victory, then and only then, look ahead!

Well, since nobody commented on this subject, I'll have to update it for you.

My feelings were correct... nobody came close to Megan all year long. She continued to break the school record all year long, completing her High School career at the State Meet this past weekend. She finished FIRST in the DII 3200 meters with another school record time of 10:52.48, totally dominating the field.

Congratulations Megan. You are the sweetest, nicest girl at DHS and you deserve every good thing that comes your way! Good luck next year!

Sounds like a great race for this young lady. She actually had the 4th best time in all 3 divisions which is a great accomplishment. She was only 6 seconds behind the best time in the state in Div.1.

If she ALREADY has the 4th best time at this point, imagine what we'll be discussing by the time districts and regionals rolls around wink.gif
