NORTH BALTIMORE, OH (WTOL) - A wrestling coach has been fired after being accused of threatening students.

John Duvall faces charges of menacing and inducing panic after what he allegedly said to some students after a domestic dispute with his wife who's on the school board.

The board voted to terminate his employment Tuesday night during their meeting at the North Baltimore Public Library.

Duvall and his wife, Holli Gray-Duvall, are in the process of getting a divorce. The resolution says when Holli and School Board President Jake Trevino's son and another student were removing furniture from the couple's home, John sent over two wrestling students.

During a phone conversation the resolution says John threatened the students who were helping Holli saying they were going to "get their asses kicked."

"The threats were made that these students were coming over to beat up the other students. And the recorded phone conversation was witnessed by the actual police officer. He had heard those threats," says Holli Gray-Duvall.

Superintendent Kyle Clark says Duvall used his position to harass, intimidate or threaten the safety of some of the students.

The school board's resolution states John Duvall had a chance to refute the allegations during a meeting with the board, he opted not to.

Gray-Duvall abstained from voting to terminate John's employment.

Supporters of Duvall filled the school board meeting and made their voices heard.

"Good things for the children don't count, right?" asked one woman in the audience. When the board voted to terminate his employment she also shouted that it was not a smart move.

John says his lawyer won't let him comment on the case, but his friends did.

Parent Cora Rora says Duvall motivates kids to keep their grades high so they can wrestle. She says he also gives the kids hope.

"I'm here to support John because I'm tired of them getting rid of all the good coaches," says parent Rochele Hillard.

As supporters and John left, there were rumors of a possible lawsuit, but Superintendent Clark says he's not worried.

Alot more to the story to be honest.

NORTH BALTIMORE — A North Baltimore wrestling coach accused of menacing his wife and students was fired Tuesday.
By a 3-0 vote, the North Baltimore school board terminated the contract of John DuVall.
His spouse, board member Holli Gray-DuVall, and board President Jake Trevino abstained from the vote.
The school board held a 20-minute executive session before ending DuVall’s contract.
DuVall has pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of menacing and inducing panic, according to Bowling Green Municipal Court records.
The incident which led to DuVall’s dismissal occurred July 8 at the couple’s Rudolph Road residence, according to the North Baltimore Police Department.
Police said Holli Gray-DuVall was removing items from the home with the help of high school students. Police said Mr. DuVall called his home and allegedly made threats to his wife and those at the house. His voice was on speaker phone.
He was suspended as wrestling coach following the incident.
In a six-page resolution to fire DuVall on Tuesday, the school board stated: “(D)uring the course of a domestic dispute, Mr. DuVall used his position as the high school wrestling coach to harass and threaten two other district students.”
The resolution also claimed DuVall used his position to “instruct two students ‘to have them stop at DuValls’ residence to make sure his wife ... wasn’t taking anything that belonged to him.’”
The DuValls were going through a divorce at the time of the incident.
Some community members at Tuesday’s meeting protested the firing.
“Everyone deserves a second chance,” Erron Sadler, a junior wrestler, told the board prior to its vote.
Others attempted to address the board, but were not permitted since they had not signed up to speak prior to the meeting, in accordance with board policy.
DuVall was head wrestling coach for three seasons and has been credited by his supporters with beginning to turn the program around.
Outside the meeting room Tuesday, Sadler, who said he was present at the alleged incident last month, denied any threats were made.
“No. Not at all,” the student told The Courier. “He did not threaten those students.”
Cora Roa, a mother with two sons in the wrestling program, said, “John loves these kids. He gives these kids hope.”
DuVall was at the board meeting but made no comment to reporters.
