Round 2 was this evening as Van Wert (8-3) beat Kenton, Wapak (8-4) beat Elida (10-5) and one loss OG beat St.Marys.

11-4 Defiance will take on Findlay tomorrow at 6:00 with the winner taking on VanWert next Monday at 6:00, followed by OG- Wapak

Thanks for the update!
You get to the NEXT level only by being successful at the CURRENT one. Play today's game first, enjoy the victory, then and only then, look ahead!

How many of these teams bring Freshman back down from full-time JV just for this tournament? I know Van Wert and O-G have done this in years past. If a Frosh kid plays with the Freshman team all year and still plays some JV, I don't see a problem with that at all. If the kid(s) are full-time JV and only come back down for this tourney it shows a low class attitude toward your Freshman coaches and players.
That's just the Reality of it...

Just wondering. . . Does anyone know how many times has each team has won the OG frosh tournament? Why doesn't Celina participate in the tourney because they are the only WBL school not in it? Why doesn't Lima Senior still play in the OG tournament?

This is a de facto WBL tournament, not every WBL team fields a frosh team every year and some years schools decide not to enter for whatever reason. Non WBL schools have entered in the past, most notably LCC, before they joined the NWC.

The past 3 winners have been:

Last year: Napoleon
2010 Bath?
2009 Van Wert
before OG had a stranglehold on the freshman championship winning it almost every year.

I'm pretty sure the Celina freshman team plays in the Parkway freshman tournament. I do not know if a freshman team can schedule more than one tournament per season.

I don't recall OG ever bringing a freshman down from JV in the past. I know Bath did a couple of years ago. Some teams do, but I doubt that during the JV season they monitor quarters so close as to save a player quarters to be able to participate in the freshman tournament.

Gotta agree with Falcon....OG rarely moves freshmen up to JV....and I don't ever remember one of them going back down to play in this tourney.

They do sometimes take a freshman up to JV for the last few games after the freshman season is done....so there is a possibility that you may have seen a kid dress JV the last couple games of the year....but they likely weren't there until after the Frosh tourney ended....not moving up and down.

Bath didn't move any freshmen down off the JV team to play in the tournament 2 years ago when they won. The Rockholds and the Chambers kid were at every freshmen practice and played in every freshmen game except Logan who missed 2 games in a week because of a sprained ankle. If I remember correctly, there were some parent/coach meetings because the parents were upset with Coach Davis for not moving them up.
