I just don't get why they win in pittsburgh, but well HOyer didn't do anything to win the game. That doesn't make him bad?
He looked uncomfortable as all get out this weekend, I get that, the line wasn't exactly helping his cause either, and in Pittsburgh, he had time to throw, and in Tennesee. I just didn't think the Browns did enough last week to help protect him, or bring in extra blockers to run the ball. STeelers couldnt move the ball monday the whole first quarter, they brought extra tight end, the brought in a two backs to lead block, and protect big ben. I just think the game adjustments on offense were not very good.
Kennedy,
just wondering you liked Tim couch, but you think Manziel would be better because he is more moble than Hoyer?

I would say most browns fans agree that Austin has exceeded expectations. He's made alot of difficult grabs on bad throws this season. I don't know what you thought he was going to do this year but I'm definitely pleased with him thus far.
I'm not sure how Johnny Manziels mobility relates to why I liked Tim Couch. I liked him because he had 3 seasons at .500 or better. Johnny Manziel will eventually be the starter in Cleveland because he was drafted to be just that.

so it was just me then on Austin. Gordon being I thought he might step up and have more targets than 4.7 a game. I mean he is a big strong receiver, I thought maybe he would be a Bolden type. I mean he is only averaging three catches a game, I realize he makes a couple of big plays, but 1 a game hardly seems productive to me.
Look, I am not stating that I think at this point Hoyer is going to Win the Browns the Superbowl. But I do believe, that it has only been 7 starts for him, and up to last week, hadn't been playing bad. It is a new system, without your only real threat receiver, and an offensive line that is making adjustments to being down a man. If he can manage the team, until the Browns get healthy, and even draft a couple more Playmakers next seaon, and if he hasnt shown he can take them to the next level, well then when Manziel steps in the browns have all the components in place for him to be successful. That's all I am saying. If you want anyone getting banged up til the LIne gel's and the running game gets back in tack then I would think it would be Hoyer.

No one said Hoyers throwing to random unoccupied spots on the field. You said that because the play by play announcer said he ran the wrong route that must be what happened. The truth is until someone comes out and says what really happened no one knows. Did Jordan Cameron run the wrong route in the endzone when Hoyer threw the ball into the first row? I guess it's a possibility but I've never seen a play designed to get a fan a td catch. Then again I don't know the playbook com Jim Donavan does.
My point is this. Yes there were drops, yes there was miscommunication. It happens. But it doesn't happen 30 times a game. Hoyer is and always will be a 50-59% completion guy behind a strong running game. Even going back to MSU. That's what you're getting. He doesn't have a huge arm or a particularly accurate one unless he's throwing to wide open guys off play action. Even then he under throws guys that should catch it in stride and walk into the endzone instead of stopping mid route to wait on it. He's thrown behind Hawkins on short crosses multiple times that should have been huge plays but because he had to stop and turn to catch the ball he was stopped for a short gain instead of breaking a big one. Sure he doesn't make huge Weedenesque mistakes. But its the little ones that go unnoticed that are hurting him. The coaches know this. Since the win against Pittsburgh Hoyer and Manziel have been splitting 1st team reps in practice. Coincidence or preparation? I don't know of many backups getting that many snaps with the 1st teamers. Is it happening Sunday? Probably not. But Shanahan has been vocal in his confidence in Manziel. Unless Hoyer changes some peoples opinions of him his days are numbered.

I am coming around to your side Kennedy on Hoyer and missing throws. The Browns do not have experience playmakers in the receving core other than Hawkins, but he had two throws in the red zone, that he did have enough time to get the ball off and was short on both. Well one wasn't quite red zone but the receiver was open point is if he wants to get a contract from Cleveland or any other team he needs to hit those open receivers, less bad throws this week, but he only threw 28 times compared to 41 week before.
Still would like to know what happened to the run game. Other than running West and Tate, instead of all three. Didn't seem to be a big change. Raiders were giving up 130 yards a game to RB's and cleveland mangaged 39 yards, and only 1 rushing first down.
Carr looked pretty good Raiders may have found their QB

Speaking of Weeden. Weeden looked like Weeden from the highlights i saw. Jacksonville vs. cowboys in LOndon could be an interesting game. Jacksonville can take away the run game like the cardinals did so WEeden is going to have to complete a pass to his receiver. He had 0 completions to a receiver in the first half.

West looked like he found North and South last night. Huge win for the organization. I want to get real excited but it is the browns, and there is alot of games left. But they looked balanced on both sides of the ball. Still need a punt returner though.

But yet no one outside of Cleveland believes yet. Every media outlet on the planet destroying the bengals instead of praising the browns! As close as a month ago many called them the best team in football. A few weeks ago they dominated the team many are now calling one of the best in the league, The Steelers. Why is it so easy for people to ignore what the browns are doing? Its so aggravating when they completely overwhelm a team like they did Thursday but all anyone can say is "My god the Bengals played awful."

That was no fluke. A beatdown like that doesn't just happen because Dalton had a bad game. Whether you or anyone else will admit it the browns are a force to be reckoned with.

It's funny that now that the Browns beat the Bengals-the Bengals aren't as good as they were supposed to be. Also anyother team gets to celebrate being in first place, but people keep telling Browns fans that there is a lot more football to be played.....Hey-we know-we aren't football newbies just because we're Browns fans.

On the bright side, if you would have told me in August that this team would be 6-4 after 10 games I would have taken it in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately its looking like the AFC wildcard teams will need at least 11 wins to get in, and whoever gets to .500 in the NFC south wins the division.
