Lima, OH
Wayne Trace, representing the Green Meadows Conference met the Ada
Bulldogs, members of the Northwest Conference, Friday night at Lima
Stadium in the finals for Division 6 Region 20. The Raiders received the
opening kickoff and traded punts with Ada on each team's first possession
and the raiders never looked back from there. Wayne Trace would go on to
amass 689 yards of total offense en route to a 68-14 win to send the
raiders to the D-6 state semi-finals, a first in school history.

Wayne Trace Senior QB Colby Spiece would open the raiders 2nd drive of the
game with a 7 play march down the field capped by a 25 yard TD run. After
an Ada three and out Wayne Trace wasted no time scoring on a 92 yard TD
pass to Showalter, with a 2 point PAT to Jake Arend the raiders led 16-0.
On Ada's 3rd possession, after a first down, the raiders defense held the
bulldogs on downs highlighted by a sack by Brock Worden. Two plays later
Spiece would hit from 64 yards out for the 3rd TD of the quarter, the PAT
was no good as Wayne Trace took a 22-0 lead to end the 1st quarter.

After holding Ada on downs Wayne Trace would pick up right where they left
off in the first quarter going on an eight play drive capped off by
another TD pass to Korbin Showalter, his 2nd of the game. The PAT to Jake
Arend was good and Wayne Trace led 30-0. On the next possession of Ada
would commit their only turnover of the game on an interception by Jake
Arend. The turnover would not hurt the bulldogs on this drive as Hunter
Waller picked off a Spiece's pass on 4th down. After Ada lost the ball on
downs, Wayne Trace would engineer an eight play drive culminating in a 7
yard TD pass to RB Jared Sherry making the score 36-0 after the PAt was
intercepted. Ada would then get on the board with a 5 play drive that
ended with a Matt Wilcox TD pass to Owen Conley. The 2 point conversion
was good to Blake Ansley and the score stood at 36-8. Wayne Trace would
then take over on their 30 and the Spiece to Showalter connection struck
once again, this time for 70 yards, making the score 42-8. Just when Ada
thought the nightmarish 1st half was about to end the raiders struck once
more on a 10 play drive ending in a TD pass to Jake Arend. That score
would make it 50-8 at the half.

Ada would open the third quarter going on a 4 play drive that finished
with Hunter Waller on the receiving end of a 36 yard Wilcox pass, making
the score 50-14. Wayne Trace would answer with a 9 play drive as Zach
gerber got in on the action with a TD reception, the extra point attempt
was no good making the score 56-14. Spiece to Gerber would strike again
after an Ada three and out making it 62-14. The scoring would wrap up late
in the 3rd quarter with a 34 yard TD run by Tyler Showalter. The raiders
substituted liberally in the 4th quarter making the final score a decisive
68-14.

On the evening Wayne Trace Colby Spiece would tie a state record, throwing
for 9 TD's. The raiders ran for 155 yards and passed for 534. Wayne Trace
will not meet Mechanicsburg for a trip to the state finals at a site to be
determined.
