Defiance 3 Bath 2
Ottawa-Glandorf 2 Celina 1
St. Marys 1 Kenton 1
Shawnee 5 Van Wert 0

Wapakoneta 4 Elida 2

Elida was COMPLETELY out coached in this and the Celina game. So much experience and talent wasted for the Bulldogs. It has to be frustrating for the players.

Anyone else surprised by the St. Mary's-Kenton draw? Both tallies by PKs nonetheless.

And it's ALWAYS the coaching. I think it's more frustrating for the parents.

It read like it was a rough game in the paper. The amount of fouls that I have seen in hs boys soccer in the past few years is a bit bothersome. It's hard to be impressed by skill when I see so much unnecessary stuff instead. Not a knock on anyone, just would like to see the game as it is intended to be played.

Hagen,
Have you watched Elida play this year? The past few years?
There's been plenty of talent, and as a youth coach, I recognize when someone isn't utilizing the teams assets effectively.
Not ALWAYS the coach, but if you 'd like there is plenty of examples to give you.
I do realize that you have years of experience, though.

I have seen them a couple times the past couple years, yes. I don't think they've been drastically misused as a team though. Most of the top half of the WBL, as a whole, are similar in skills with a handful of split-decision plays creating the outcome of a contest. At the end of the day, Elida is 4-2 with a 1-2 loss at Celina (5-3) & a 2-4 loss at Wapak (5-2-1). They were two tough opponents on the road, thus far. It's unfortunate for Elida that they didn't come away with points in those contests, but I don't think they've been put into a disingenuous position by their coach to not compete. I'm also not saying they can't be better either — almost every team can be — but I think they're about where they should be thus far.
