It has recently been learned that the Legion will not be having a team anymore

Not at all or just 2014? My understanding was that they are looking to continue after this year.

So unfortunate to hear this, so many nice facilities around that can be used and so many good ball players around this area.

Don't think facilities were an issue. They couldn't come up with the funding to run the team this summer.

Too bad, Lima was always one of the better teams in the Wetsern part of Ohio most years. A lot of schools around to draw talented players from......where will those players go now? Ottawa, Findlay, Sidney or Piqua?

The problem is, if there is no funding now, what is to say there will be in the future? Once you pull the plug on a program it can be very difficult to start it back up again and play at a competitive level.

Don't see too many teams willing to push their "local" guys away in favor of the Lima kids...knowing it's a one year thing and those kids will likely be back to Lima next season. Gonna be tough for them to find a spot....as some of the teams already have their rosters set.

I hope they're able to. Like it was said before, tough to stop and then come back

Wasn't saying facilities was the issue, just saying that baseball in this area has gotten some nice ones, and it's a shame these kids don't have the chance to use any of them this summer to further their baseball careers.

Most of the kids that play legion are there for one summer (after their senior year) and then they move on to either not playing again or to bigger better summer programs (Loco's, cape cod to name a few) for the ones who want to play that one more summer with a bunch of friends from the area it is a sad day when Lima cannot make that dream come true!!

In the recent (and not so recent) past Ottawa has had players from Delphos, Elida, Paulding, Ayersville, McComb, etc. those places are no more "local" than Lima. i am sure the Ottawa legion could find a place on the roster for someone like Colin Gossard. Not to mention outside of a very good OG baseball team, the overall quality of baseball in Putnam County this year is down.
