How good is New Riegel? Does Ottoville have a snow balls' chance like they did not vs. Crestview & Kalida?

from my memory new riegel always has a great record and does well up thru district but dont finish the deal most years. I mean make the final 4 not winning it all. but the way oville is playing (peaking late rather than too early as years past) i would give them a shot. im gonna research them a while and report back.

new riegel history:

2014 22-2 lost in reg. semi
2013 #1 seed lost in sectional
2012 21-3 AP #4 lost in regional
2011 #1 seed lost in dist. semi
2010 data incomplete on ohsaa website
2009 made regional ohsaa website (brackets messed up) sad they cant keep this information available
2008 22-3 lost in state semis by 20

I think that provides a decent picture

That D1 team is Magnificat, they are led by a terrific twosome in Phoebe Sterba and Eileen Carey. I did a tournament with them at the beginning of the year, very sound and well coached basketball team.

Gotta go with OG (theyve already beaten Archbold) and Ottoville (I can't count out a Dave Klemen coached team in March).
Don't find fault, find a remedy.

Seeing as NR's players were not on the 2008-2012 teams, not sure what relevance that is?? In high school, it's a new team each year. Should be a really good regional, all 4 teams have a shot. I'd say Pettisville and Ottoville meet for a trip to state.

2 members of this year's team started as freshman on that 12 team that got beat by Arlington in the regional finals. It doesn't just seem like Kara and Taylor have been around forever, they really have been. This will be their 3rd trip to regionals in basketball went twice in softball and at least once maybe more in volleyball . An amazing overall career that I would put up against just about any other players career

No doubt Donny, really enjoy kids who play all the sports and not specialize in one. It's what small school sports is all about. NR's probably one of the smallest D4 schools, yet their girls sports are always at the district / regional level. Anyone's game at this point, just feel Ottoville's size may be the difference in this one. NR's amazing run in both basketball and volleyball has come with little size.

Maybe so. But I was at Arlington for that home game against New Riegel. New riegel isn't big, but they really hustle, and that Scherger is a very good player. NR won that one, 56-53 AT Arlington.

I noticed that earlier in the season Arlington had already beaten Ottoville AT Ottoville 42-40.

Not saying transitive property works, and maybe Ottoville wasn't playing good...or had injuries....but as experienced as NR is, and with what i saw at Arlington, and with the Data in front of me, I gotta agree with New Riegel having the edge.

Pettisville and St. Wendy's to me is a coin toss. That point guard at Pettisville can FLY...Like the post as well

Rams have five Division I collegiate athletes including three players 6-foot-2 or taller. One is going to Michigan. Bath had a nice season.

No doubt NR has the skill, I just think this time of year, when the game slows down, size under the hoop can make a difference. I know defense is key, but Arlington shot 19% vs. St. Wendelin and only lost by a point. Pettisville is the newcomer here, normally Holgate / Ayersville.

Pettisville is good with only one loss. The have 2 very good players in Avina and Fricke. Avina is fast and a wizard with the ball. This time of year, the teams with the best guards usually win.
