I'm not suprised with who they have added but I look for Walsh and Malone to be in a different league, maybe in PA or WV. The GLIAC is now big enough.

Malone and Walsh were turned down for D-II membership - the GLIAC is looking to be at 16 teams (most talk has a north and south division). North would be Michigan schools; south Ohio and U Indy; a public/private division was another option discussed.

IMHO Lake Erie and ODU (to a lesser extent than LEC) will get pounded in football for a couple seasons, but they'll become competitive.

They will be good additions to the conference.

After having been denied membership in 2009 Malone University, Ursuline College and Walsh University were all accepted to begin the NCAA DII process on July 12, 2010. If all goes well they will be active members in the fall of 2013. Walsh and Malone have both expressed interest in the GLIAC. Mount Vernon has made the decision to remain affiliated with the NAIA at this time.

NCAA Division II Schools in Ohio both active or in-process:

1) Ashland
2) Cedarville (no football)
3) Central State
4) Findlay
5) Lake Erie
6) Malone
7) Notre Dame College
8) Ohio Dominican
9) Tiffin
10) Urbana
11) Ursuline (only sponsors women's sports (9% male enrollment))
12) Walsh

NAIA in Ohio: (after current changes)
1) Cincinnati Christian
2) Lourdes
3) Mount Vernon Nazarene (AMC)
4) Rio Grande (Mid South)
5) Shawnee State (Mid-South)
6) UNOH (WHAC)

we have a site that covers all of the changes of NAIA and D2,,,lots of things going on with more in the future..

presently Mount Vernon Nazarene had applied to join the Mid-Central Conf, they would be the only Ohio member...their present conf is basically done the AMC as the remaining schools decide what they will do next - Houghton (NY) has already said they are looking at D3...

D2 and NAIA are seeing a lot more changes that D1

Mount Vernon Nazarene University has been accepted to the NAIA Mid Central College Conference. This change (with others that have happened in the last few years) effectively ends the era of an Ohio based NAIA conference. Wilberforce will have to seriously look at dropping athletics altogether or have a dramatic increase in sports sponsorship to be attractive to any conference or athletic affiliation for that matter. Lourdes in Toledo is starting to add sports and will be a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference member along with fellow Ohio school University of Northwestern Ohio who joined the WHAC in the fall of 2010.

Seems a bit premature but four former NAIA - American Mideast Conference and future NCAA DII schools are charter members of a new NCAA DII league. (Cedarville, Notre Dame College, Urbana University, and Ursuline College)

I would guess that Malone and Walsh are waiting to see if the GLIAC expands further. With 12 NCAA II schools in Ohio in a few years (10 football schools) it seems reasonable that an Ohio based NCAA DII league could be formed. The NCAA DII conference moratorium is expected to be lifted in 2013.
