This has been mentioned on a few other threads. Think it needs to be in the forefront. The Lady Devils have Riverdale, Arcadia and then New Riegel all in a week. Riverdale is scrappy but should be no problem for Devils as long as they don't look ahead. Do think they beat undefeated and state ranked Arcadia by 10 at home. Not so sure about travelling to New Riegel which is another state ranked team. Gut tells me they go 3-0! What a fun week to be a Devil's fan!! Thoughts?

Ya my thoughts. Don't let the records and rankings of New Riegel and Arcadia fool ya. Both teams play weak schedules and both will face their first tough task all season which is Arlington. I see them going 3-0 this week and winning each game by double digits. But in defense to New Riegel and Arcadia, Arlington has only faced 1 real challenge this season which was Liberty Benton so just saying. Doesn't take away that all 3 of these teams are good though just hard to understand some teams just based on who they play. So we shall see how it all turns out, just my thoughts though.

I don't disagree with you Mysterio on the synopsis of the schedule for all three teams.

Arlington's toughest games have been against #2 DIII ranked LB @ LB in a close game (5 pt loss). Arlington has beaten a few teams with decent records in USV, Leipsic, Kenton, NB, McComb, etc - but not exactly a mind boggling schedule. However, the schedule picks up quickly beginning tomorrow @ Rdale. Having said that, I was a bit surprised when I looked at the schedule and realized how many 20+ pt wins there have been this year. The closest margin against what I thought was the best team we played (not including LB) was USV, and we beat them on their court by 13.

I have said it a few times - this team is really hitting it's stride right now and playing well. I guess a week or so from tomorrow we will see just what that means in terms of wins/losses but once again, the schedule has not been great up to this point.

Well and again you can't blame teams like Arlington, Arcadia, and New Riegel because there schedule is what it is. Teams you mentioned USV, Leipsic, Kenton, NB, McComb may show they have decent records but I have seen some teams beat them down good this year. Point is Arlington is a good team and I think they will cruise on to regionals because the sectionals and district matchups for them will be in their favor (based on what I have seen as potential matchups) but than they will be put to the test. I would be really surprised to see them lose any of the next three games if that, the rest of the season. Just by looking at who they have left, I don't see it happening.

I hope ur right Mysterio! Ottoville is the team to beat this year in this area - so the road to Cbus goes thru them just as it was with our team last year. The added pressure is certianly something that is real...as teams will give you their best shot night in and out.

Let's just see how it pans out and certainly there will be much debate between now and then.

BTW - have you seen us play this year Mysterio?

Nope
I would like to though, I haven't been to many this year although I have seen Ottoville twice.

I'm thinking Arlington goes 3-0 this week. Riverdale is definitely in a rebuilding mode, but has faced a number of teams with decent records: North Union (foundation game), USV, Liberty-Benton, New Riegel, North Baltimore, Wynford. I'd say that L-B and NR are definitely the best out of this group of teams. L-B beat us by either 13 or 17, and NR hammered us by 29 I think.

I am thinking that the Arlington/NR game should be a very good one. NR starts 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen...not too shabby for a ranked team. This team will be dangerous in a couple years.

I have a niece on the Arlington team, so I wish her well this week. It's always hard to watch my nieces and nephew play against the Falcons, but I always want to see them do well. I hope the Red Devils take it easy on the Falcons Tuesday night, but I'd say the red and black will win this one by at least 20.

Falcon - we both know that Rdale will play hard and compete under Coach Holderman. There are no "easy" wins against Rdale regardless of quality of team.

Needless to say, I am jacked about some real good games coming up that I think will be a good pre-cursor to the tournament. We have absolutely thumped NR that past two years when they have had good teams - i hope this year is no different. If they are young, I would think our pressure will get to them, but who knows.

See you tomorrow night Falcon - I love going to the Dale...a great atmosphere.

NR does start 2 freshmen and 2 sophs and may struggle against Arlington pressure. But how does Arlington handle pressure D as NR has been pretty effective getting turnovers with full court and half court traps and presses? NR will have to make some outside shots to stay with Arlington but I would think it will be much closer than last couple years. Still have to favor Arlington until NR shows they can beat them.

I have seen New Riegel play a few times this year and I think they are Way over rated. They are young, with little to no experience on varsity (only 1 returning player), undersized but fairly athletic and no big game wins. They play at Bucyrus tonight which let them know alittle more about where they are at this point in the season. Right now I agree that Arlington will easily beat them at home as they have in the past and also agree that they are not in the same class as Arlington or any BVC team above the middle of the standings.

I think we will know more about certain teams coming up here in the next week or two. Arlington will win with ease against New Riegel and Arcadia but I won't think much more of them for beating them two teams. Do I think Arlington has a good team? Yes of course I just think we will know more about NR and Arcadia once they play Arlington and we will know less about Arlington.

Im alittle confused. 2 wins with ease by Arlington are a given. If one of them shock Arlington it will show you something about them? But will a loss to either change your opinion of Arlington?

Agree with Falcon on Arlington going 3-0 but with that said Arcadia and NR won't go down without a fight. NR, Arcadia and yes Riverdale are all coached by season veterans. I'm predicticting that Arcadia has the best chance of pulling out a victory over the Lady Devils. The younger Glick (very athletic) has gotten more comfortable and with the palmer girl back things are looking up for them. I guess I should give the older Glick and Cramer girl well deserved props to, so will just have to wait a little and see how everythng unfolds. Good Luck to all the the teams and may the best team win!

The reason NR and Arcadia's records are what they are both schools have great coaches with alot of experience bottom line period!!!

I agree with Senor Grace. Arcadia poses a great challenge, as they are very talented and have a great coach. NR appears to be young and that does not bode well playing against a senior laden Arlington team. Riverdale gets the utmost respect from most everyone in Arlington every year - they are well coached and their past success dictates respect - something I know Arlington has for them year in and out.

It will be interesting to talk once we know where things stand next Tuesday night...

I agree. However, NR plays in a very inferior league that allows them to have an exaggerated record each year too. Arlington has put the beat down on them lately when they have had great records. See previous 35+ pt wins past two years as example of two teams with similar records going in...ouch.

I'm not sure if inferior is the word to use, so lets just say the talent level is down. I'm very close to the MAL and have a lot of respect for their league. I will say they have been down the last couple of years but before that, well lets just say they were much better with NR & SW making their tournament runs further than any of the other BVC teams but LB which is D-3. Like I said Arlington should go 3-0 after this next week but spooky things can happen in girls BB.

How many of the BVC teams other than L-B (1 yr) have made a run in the tourney? I think NR and Carey have been to the finals but consistancy over the years NR always seems to put something together. I would be worried about the Big Green come tourney for A'town. When would they meet?

I'd say my prediction was pretty close. I wonder, though, how much Arlington was showing tonight. I notice that the Arcadia coaches made the trip to scout, along with some others. Actually, I was a bit surprised that the press didn't give us more trouble than it did. New Riegel really put it to us with their full court pressure. I still say the NR/Arlington game will be a good one.
