What's the full story on Tyler? Was he originally a LCS student and just why did he not play high school basketball in Lima? I never really took interest in his story. Thanks

Seems to be the AAU thing to do these days. DeAngelo Russll's from Louisville, he when to high school at some academy in Florida? If you've got the funds, I guess you can call it protecting the investment.

He was a Shawnee student in the eighth grade, where he was obviously tearing it up. (He was even then, one of the best ball handlers I'd ever seen). From that point, the story that I got was that the Shawnee Varsity coach at the time told him and his dad that Freshmen don't start at Shawnee, so he moved.
That was the story back then. You Shawnee guys can correct me if I'm wrong

Lep that is exactly the story I've heard.
Russell went to Montverde Academy in Florida, that's the team that's won the dicks "HS national championship" the past 3 years

Tyler Ulis is the prime example as to why transferring should be allowed.
There are believe it or not, coaches out there who are morons.

Nope, it was the wonderful AD who opened his mouth and inserted both feet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ulis could have open enrolled in any of the Lima area schools. Open enrollment is permitted before 9th grade with no penalties. So my guess is there was more to it than that. Yes, we hear about the Tyler Ulis and D'Angelo Russel stories, but what about the hundreds of others who make these commitments to these basketball academies and things don't work out??
