Thoughts of ticket prices, parking & concessions around our area.....

Heard 1.50 for a small bad of popcorn & $3.00 for Jr. High parking at one WBL school...
Is this the norm these days? Is it appropriate?

I say raise them if anything...the proceeds are going to the school and athletics that you support. Then again, I'm used to OSU concession prices.

EDIT: Well except parking...that's stupid.

A friend of mine attend a game recently that charged $3.00 per person for admittance at the gate. I was a bit shocked. It was the first I had seen this, but from the responds here perhaps all school should start charging? So what's a fair price 3 a head? 10 a family of 4 or more??

It would only be appropriate if all extracurricular functions did it and all proceeds from parking went to repair/upkeep on the parking lot, not the individual function.
Why should attending a sporting event have a double-admission? If it's for the parking lot and all functions do it, I'm ok. However, if it's just a way to raise money for the athletic department, rather than just raise the admission cost itself ($1 a person more), then I determine it to be a shady way of doing so.

Paying to park for a regular season event is ridiculous. I know its allowed for playoffs but a lot dont even charge then. Shame on that school for charging for a JR HIGH game.

My guess would be Bath. Every time I have ever gone to watch a game there, I have had to pay for parking.

Never been charged at Bath except maybe 4-5 years ago for a b-ball playoff game. I attend 20+ event there a year

One that bothers me is getting charged at a JV game after paying for the varsity on the friday before

I've never had to pay for parking at Bath for a regular season sporting event. In fact, they made parking better by opening up more parking behind the football field. I think they might've gotten rid of some tennis courts?

$3 for the game ticket is a deal. At my old school, it was either $4 or $5 for students, $6 for the general public.

Well, we might as well get used to it. With the politicians placing all the requirements on public schools while reducing the money sent back to the systems I would suspect that most schools are scrambling to support their athletic programs. I'm all for school improvement, but I can never be convinced that state politicians have a clue or ability to make good decisions for local school districts. I say keep our taxes local and significantly reduce state government size and power. We will all be better off. If I don't like my school or community, I will move to the greener grass on the other side of the fence.
