You are clueless. Glad you only show up at football playoff time. It's not about your pussification of America world. It's about kids getting a chance to play in a state title game. Over the last 10 years the best two teams in D6 and now D7 have come from this part of Ohio. That's not just my opinion, that's a lot of peoples opinion. Like Bobby says no one is entitled to play in the state finals game. Including eastern Ohio. All I'm saying is if the brackets are set at the start of the play-offs, leave them that way. When did you become the money police? Again, it's a few hundred bucks at most. I don't think that is going to break a school district. Why is it wasting time and money to travel an extra hour or two? Because the GREAT BUCKI said so. You really are out of touch if you think schools would think it's a waste to do this.

How about the Eastern side of the state earn it and beat two teams from this area. You know it probably wouldn't happen and then they would threaten to leave the OHSAA again. Thankfully the season ends next weekend and we won't have to hear your diluted logic for another 46 or 47 weeks.

Yes because Newark Catholic a couple years ago were some real losers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but NC is the one exception. Shadyside, Buckeye Central, Mogadore, and Steubenville CC are the other teams that have made the finals from the east and all have been beaten by no less than 17 points while multiple have been beaten by 50+

Mogadore also has a state title win over St. Henry. Steubenville Catholic has one over Liberty Center. Buckeye Central isnt remotely close to being eastern district.

When did anyone from Eastern Ohio threaten to leave the ohsaa? The resentment towards shadyside stems from the fact that they couldnt believe dsj was that much better.

My post was basically within the last 10 years or so.

The resentment towards Shadyside stems from how much worse they were than DSJ, especially when compared to the other teams DSJ had faced. Then the next year, ML destroyed Buckeye Central (R23) by 40 in the championship game while they barely beat DSJ in the semis. 2012 was close, but like I said, NC seems to be an exception.

Who gives a rat's backside?? If you're in the title game, it means you've done what you needed to be there. I don't care if teams have been waxed by large margins. If their lot in life is to make it to the final and get hammered, so be it.

Yes. You can't fault a team for beating the teams that are put in front of them even if they aren't very good. It may not be fair competitive wise but life isn't fair sometimes. At the end of the day the best team in each division is crowned. Why should it matter how they got there or how the other team got there?

In 2010 St Johns would of beat lots of teams that bad. I would venture to say that nobody on here has ever seen Shadyside play other than against one of the top teams in the state of any division in that state final. So you really don't know what your talking about. The OHSAA tournament is set up so the best teams in each region make the playoffs and not the best teams in the state. Shadyside has earned that privilege 16 times and has a very good record to show for it.

So a bigdogg........

How many times have you see Shadyside over the years!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why doesn't lincolnview have football anyways? They have more boys than grove does. I imagine quite a few would transfer there from van wert to play there too.

Shaddyside once in person, Malvern vs Bridgeport in a regional final a couple of years ago. Easten part of the state small class football is not the quality of the MAC but few teams are in D-7 and 6

I would guess the start up costs of a football program would be one reason. Typically you'll start with a youth program, followed by junior high, then JV then varsity, so you're looking at a 6-7 year commitment by 3-4 classes back to back just to get things started. A typically football player, helmet, shoulder pads, leg pads, uniform is going to run in the $300-$400 range PER PLAYER. So a 25 player team is $10,000 out the door, and that does not include coaches salaries, football field, goal posts, stands, etc.

Agreed. If a Marion Local or DSJs beats someone by 40 in the finals.......It probably means the true number 2 team already got beat by ML or DSJs...or someone else. Point being, the best team standing at the end is the CHAMP....very few remember #2 several years later, no matter if they are beat in week 12 or week 15.
