Coach Fell is the most qualified person to answer your question of, "Why now".

Maybe the next time you're taking his order at the drive-thru window, you could
ask him in person.

Your advancement certainly supports the theory of the Peter Principle,( no,not that peter principle) !

Your move to the front counter proves that you have now risen to your level of incompetence, although,
I would guess a strong case could be made supporting your prior promotion to the drive-thru window as
the move that truly pushed you beyond your skill level.

In any event, I feel that some form of ,in your words " congatulatios" is in order. You probably could have
had this promotion 10 years ago, or 5 years ago, maybe even a year ago. . . .Why now, I ask ??

(Sadly, it took me over 24 hours to come up with this reply. In an attempt to equal DCs legendary brevity, which makes a haiku look like a manifesto, I was forced employ a portion of the hackneyed phrase; The Pot Calling The Kettle Black.)

I will say this, if he gets a lot of the Lima City School kids back this could be one of the most drastic turn arounds you will ever see. I think people under estimate the amount of talent that has been wasted over the years at Senior and his offense fits with that talent if they decide to come back and play against the very best competition in the state of Ohio and win 4 games and compete in the loses that would be an unreal job in itself.

A friend of mine told me that Coach Fell got fired (non-renewed) at Celina because they went five years in a row from 2001 thru 2005 and never beat a single team with a winning record. He claims they were 19-31 during that period and were lucky it wasn't much worse like 12-38. My guess would be that winning in the TRAC would be as tough or tougher than winning in the WBL. The good news is that time will tell.

So what does your friend say his record at Grove and at Ada was? Maybe it wasn't the coaching at Celina... just sayin

He is from Celina and is not a Fell fan. You make a valid point though. Does Lima Sr provide a better place to coach than Celina? I can remember when Celina football was very good under Jerry Harris and many thought it was as good a job as any WBL school.

Hard to compare ADA and Grove to playing a WBL schedule. I bet Coach Fell has a great record vs Pandora, USV, Perry , Paulding, Crestview, Hardin Northern of late. Not exactly the TRAC or WBL caliber.... Just sayin

X's & O's are X's & O's

I think he had success at Ada -- not an acronym -- and Grove because the kids bought into his program, worked hard in the offseason, and the parents let him coach. Any downturn in talent, a group of kids who decide they don't want to put in the prep work, and parents acting up will produce less than ideal results every time. A lot of which happened at Celina for a while. Same thing at Hardin Northern.

Which brings you back to Lima Senior. Will they buy into it? Stay at Lima Senior?

I agree Harris was less than stellar. Maybe Fell (and that group of players) left the program worse off than when they started. I believe that coaches and players are equally accountable for the success or in this case failure of a program. It has taken Celina a while to recover. Still the fact remains that Lima Sr. and coach Fell have a mountainous task to rebuild Lima Sr. especially in the TRAC.

I truely believe if Fell had stayed on at Celina, they would have been sucessful. Maybe not to the degree of state championships etc, but better than they were in the years since he was gone. What many do not realize, is that the year he was let go at Celina, he had just attended and learned the spread O at Troy University from a man who perfected a spread offense, Tony Franklin. Fell was bringing the spread to Celina because he knew he had the right athletes to run it..but he ended up bringing it to Ada instead and well...I for one am pretty glad he did....
