Should be a good meet in a number of events. League Championships begin a very exciting time of the season, in that they are the launchpad into Districts, Regionals, and the State meet. Considered by many to be the last big tune up for the big competition at districts the following week.

I personally enjoy seeing how the teams begin to gel, with peaking beginning in the competitors times and distances. Finally, the eyes of the athletes open as their times drop drastically, and distances go up.... they say...yeah this stuff really does work....coach does have us doing what we should be doing to get there....LOL. Out of the basement some kids just "show up" and do well.

Bluffton, Spencerville, Delphos Jefferson, LCC, and Columbus Grove appear to have the most talent accross the board. I don't mean that as a bash to other teams and athletes. I mean that other teams have some good athletes, but might not have double scoring potential.

All in all...im excited for the meet. are you???

It took a while to figure out who won the boys overall due to their being a dispute it was either Bluffton or Spencerville. The Grove girls won their side out right.

Congrats to all teams that participated. There were some good efforts turned in. Six meet records were broken. On the girls side....... Stratton (Bluffton) 200 Meter prelims 25.82. On the boys side.......Sanders (Delphos Jefferson) 300 Meter Hurdles 39.57, Guagenti (Bluffton) 400 Meter Dash 48.76, Nickles (Columbus Grove) Pole Vault 15' 10", Bluffton 4 x 200 relay 1:30.43, and Bluffton 4 x 400 relay 3:26.69.

The reason I find these records to be amazing is that it was very windy yesterday, and stratton's record in the 200 came on a day where it was rainy and very cold (thursday). When conditions are prime...it will be fun to see what happens with these same athletes at District, Regionals, State.

The last thing I want to say is that even though I mentioned only the record breakers.....the individual accomplishments of all the athletes I saw was electrifying. I love track and field because individuals reach "personal records" and their excitement in reaching these time/distances is awesome. It's contagious to team members. I know of at least one team that I witnessed this with at this meet, and I am sure that there were some other teams that it happened to also.

Good job athletes, and good luck the rest of the way in this season!!!!
