Just wanted to see your thoughts on this year's county teams. Here is a little of what I came up with:

Player of the Year: Andy Hoying, JC

Other Contenders for First Team: Jay Meyer, Anna; Brandon Wilson, Russia; Alex Meyer, JC; and maybe Anthony Gillem, Fairlawn (I am curious if his injury will have any effect on the decision)

Second Team and Honorable Mention Contenders: Bryce Rittenhouse, Russia; Treg Francis, Russia; Nick Reier, Anna; Maverick Long, Anna; Jesse Phlipot, Houston; Ryan Curl, Houston; Heath Geyer, Botkins; Tyler Egbert, Botkins; Ethan Zimpfer, Botkins; Trey Everett, Fairlawn; Kyle Miracle, FL; Seth Guillozet, FL; Trey Elchert, JC

I will leave it up to you to decide where each of these names belong.

Thoughts?

Interesting. I was not sure where to place Gillem since he led the area in scoring, but missed half of the season with his injury, so I see why you put him on second team. What I am curious about is what your reasoning was for putting Treg Francis on 1st Team? Not that I agree or disagree, but in my opinion Rittenhouse is the better of the two, and you do not even put him on 2nd Team. I am just wondering if you could enlighten me as to why you did this. You may have a simple answer for me, so that is why I am curious.

The simple answer is that I am the authority of SCL basketball here on the RC Keys :)

I can virtually guarantee that when teams gameplan for Russia, they are alot more concerned with where Francis is at on the floor as opposed to where Rittenhouse is at. Thats why he will be voted higher.

1st Team:

Hoying - JC (POY)
Wilson - Russia
Meyer - Anna
Meyer - JC
Phlipot - Houston

2nd Team:

Reier - Anna
Francis - Russia
Elchert - JC
Gillem - Fairlawn
Zimpher - Botkins

I would be very surprised if Hoying is not the POY. He is the best player on the best team and has had a great season. Wilson has also had a great year, but I that too many losses by Russia will hurt him.

Keys, do you have an argument as to why Rittenhouse may be better than Francis? I know that Rittenhouse has had a couple really good games for Russia, but Francis is much more consistent.

I wanted to get a player from each team on my list, but I just don't a FL player making second team. I am quite sure that FL will be back in a couple of years.

It was unfortunate to see Gillem get injured and miss half of the season. I'm curious as to where the voters will place him.

In the few games that I saw Russia play I thought that Rittenhouse was a more explosive threat offensively and a very dangerous shooter. More so, than Francis. I also think that Rittenhouse is quicker with the ball. Francis is arguably a better defender and better pulling up from fifteen feet, but that is really all that I noticed.

Is Andy Hoying related to Bobby Hoying and the clan from St. Henry?

Andy Hoying is not related to Bobby Hoying at all......they are from Sidney and Fairalwn orignially so no relation. My sources tell me that he did win POY for the second consecutive time. Sources also tell me that all league results will be out sometime Sunday. Check back then!

You sir are dead wrong. I personally know the hoyings, they are from the Anna/Botkins/JC area and are absolutely 100% related to the Hoying's of St. Henry.
