It looks like Jefferson has a pretty good player in DJ Wingfield. Looking at there schedule they seem pretty tough. Country Day is always respectable. I'd say either of the two match up well with the tigers. Should be some great games at UD this year.

OHSAA still playing the districts at UD and regional at Kettering High School for the southwest region?

I agree that Kettering is a good atmosphere, but I have always felt the venues should be reversed...Kettering Districts and UD Regionals. I understand though that UD has the "play in" game for NCAA and that has coincided with high school tournement in the last few years

It is actually pretty nice place....no bad seats...the stands are a "bowl" around the court. Actually a nice place to watch a game. Ample parking concessions etc...

12-7 Russia, losers of six straight = #2 seed. This is embarrassing, especially because they probably deserve the #2 seed above the other teams... :bag:

AGREED. Piqua is a pretty weak sectional this year. I forsee some of the higher seeds going home early.

funny you say that the Piqua sectional is weak, i would take 7 teams out of Piqua if i was betting to beat every team out of the Dayton districts and Cincinnati districts with the exception of Jefferson, Lockland, and maybe Tri-village.

I mean weak in in comparison to what its has been in past years. More often than not Russia, Loramie, Houston, Lehmann and Covington produce very solid teams capable of making a run. Top to bottom it is absolutely stronger than the Dayton districts. Its kinda like saying the MAC is having a down year. It may be a down year in MAC standards, but its still the MAC.

I guess what I'm saying is that there is a crazy amount of parity in the Piqua sectional (excluding JC and the lowly three), and I am certain that it's not because they are all just so good... As Kennedy said, there are really just a bunch of mediocre teams it seems. Dayton has a bunch of less-than-mediocre teams, but that's not the point. I'm rooting for JC, because they are the only team with a chance to impress come regionals, and I think they have the chemistry, varsity experience, and discipline to do VERY well...

I would say average teams, and not mediocre. The quality of basketball all across the state is about the same. You, however, are spot on with the parity.

With wins by Lehman and Botkins tonight, the upper bracket is shaping up to be a real good one. The Botkins/Russia game should be very interesting. Russia is coming off 8 straight loses, but has beat Botkins twice this year in close games. It is always hard to beat a team 3 times in any season and Botkins is playing well, so it appears that Russia has a lot stacked against them. I think their chances hinge on the ability of their guards to get the Wilson kid the ball. A post like that can open it up for everyone especially when he receives the ball in a double team.

When I look at the Houston/Lehman game, I have a hard time picking against Coach W for Houston. He has established a very successful program over the last few years.

Bball fan
Your analysis is fine and all but really nothing that everybody doesn't know. Russia scores well when Wilson touches the ball alot. When they shoot a high volume of 3s they can get in trouble at times. This game will come down to guard play which could go either way.

Houston and Lehman will depend if Houston can limit king white penetration and get back on defense. If Houston can slow it down and defend, they have a good chance. If this game is in the high 50's and 60's I don't think Houston can score that much

Go Bucks!!

Bremigan and Co. seems to have the troops rallied just in time... again. Russia seems to be spiraling out of control, but they have Botkins number. Botkins was kinda sorta clutch last year in sectionals and things are shaping up nicely, so I'm calling repeat. The Russia snowball is now officially an avalanche. 46-40 Trojans.

I'm taking Lehman over Houston simply because it's tourney time and stars tend to carry their teams in early rounds. Willoughby obviously knows how to win these games, but doesn't have the stud personnel to counter King-White and Baker. 56-43 Cavaliers.

Welp the sectional semi-finals are set for next week after tonight;s games......

Upper Bracket Tuesday

Houston vs. Lehman
Russia vs. Botkins

Lower Bracket Wendsday

JC vs. Bradford
Fairlawn vs. Riverside

5 Things We Learned This Weekend

1) Botkins and playing at Piqua is just a magical thing.
2) The dynamic duos of King-White/Baker and Everett/Gillem are special.
3) Scott Elchert is as fiery as ever, esp, when Jackson Center is not performing.
4) The upper bracket semi-final games are as good as it gets Tuesday.
5) Watch out for Fairlawn, peaking at the right time.

Jackson Center beating M-Valley by 10 points is intrigueing……..considering Fort Recovery just beat M-V something like 63-24.

Elchert pulled the starters early in the 3rd. Prior to that the lead had been 30 something.
