The Midwest Athletic Conference played their final week against non-conference opponents. The MAC went 7-3 in Week 1 and followed with a 6-4 record in Week 2. MAC action starts next week as many teams gun for the elusive 2010 MAC title.

COLDWATER 48, BENJAMIN LOGAN 0 – Coldwater dominated Ben Logan for the second year in a row as the Cavaliers cruised to a 48-0 win. The Cavaliers got the scoring started early in the first quarter when Dustin Gillis crossed the goal line for a 1 yard touchdown run. Three minutes later, Quarterback Austin Bruns hit Reese Klenke for a 49 yard touchdown pass, giving Coldwater a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Klenke hauled in another touchdown pass (67 yards) in the second quarter while Ross Wermert rushed for two touchdowns before the half, pushing the Cav lead to 34-0 at the break. Coldwater’s Aaron Rammel and Drew Klosterman both had rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to end the scoring for the Cavaliers.

When the final whistle blew the Coldwater Cavaliers had tallied up 239 yards rushing and a 48-0 win. Rammel rushed for 68 yards, Klosterman for 64 yards, Bruns for 45 yards, and Wermert for 42 yards. Bruns finished the night 9 of 13, 181 yards, and 2 TD passes. Klenke was the key target once again for the Cavs, hauling in 4 passes for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Chip Otten gets his first victory as the Coldwater head coach while the Cavs move to 1-1. Coldwater will head to Anna next week in the MAC Game of the Week.

MARION LOCAL 36, SPRINGFIELD CATHOLIC CENTRAL 14 – Marion Local posted another impressive win by defeated Springfield Catholic Central, 36-14. The Flyers got the scoring started when the SCC snap went over the punters head and was tackled in the end zone, giving Marion Local a 2-0 lead. Niles Keller ran for 2 scores in the first half, one for 29 yards and the other 6 yards. Josh Berning recovered a fumble and returned it for 14 yards and a touchdown before Alex Post finished the first half scoring with a 4 yard TD run. The Flyers lead 30-0 at the break. SCC found the end zone twice in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Marion Local moves to 2-0 on the season.

Marion Local rushed for 381 yards on the night; Keller had 187 yards, Kremer with 50 yards, Heitkamp with 48 yards, and Post with 34 yards. The Flyers head to New Bremen next week for their MAC opener.

SIDNEY LEHMAN CATHOLIC 34, MINSTER 13 – Sidney Lehman got some MAC revenge after being pounded by Anna in Week 1. Lehman scored the first 3 touchdowns of the game and never looked back. Lehman’s Jonathan Slagle threw 2 TD passes before Minster could cross the goal line. With 2:43 left in the first half, Minster’s Mitchel Poeppelman reeled in a 16 yard pass from Chase Paxson. Lehman led 27-6 at the break. Troy Kaufman scored one more time for Minster with a 5 yard TD run ending the scoring at 34-13, in favor of Lehman.

Minster was led by Kaiser, who rushed for 68 yards. Quarterback Chase Paxson was 6 of 22, for 83 yards. The Wildcats fall to 0-2 and will host Delphos St. Johns in Week 3.

EATON 9, ST. HENRY 7 – St. Henry fell short in their comeback against Eaton. The Eagles from Eaton High School struck first when Cole French ran for a 1 yard TD score, giving the Eagles a 6-0 lead in the 3rd quarter. St. Henry came right back on the ensuing possession when Kyle Stahl hit Cory Siefring for a 72 yard touchdown pass, giving the Redskins a 7-6 lead. Not to be outdone, Eaton went 63 yards down the field and kicked the eventual game winning field goal with 10:36 left in the third quarter. Eaton grinded out the clock in the 4th quarter, resulting in a 9-7 win.

Kyle Stahl was 13 of 26, for 208 yards. Siefring caught 5 passes for 129 yards and a score. St. Henry falls to 1-1 and will host Parkway next week.

FT. RECOVERY 29, WAYNESFIELD-GOSHEN 15 – The Ft. Recovery Indians post another victory in the 2010 season after defeated Waynesfield-Goshen. Aaron Vagedes ran for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Indians while quarterback Kenny Wenning added 111 yards on the ground. Wenning was also 12 of 22, for 137 yards. Wide out Ryan Schoen caught 5 passes for 82 yards and a score.

The Indians move to 2-0 and will travel to Versailles for their MAC opener.

TINORA 37, PARKWAY 18 – The Tinora Rams got out to a hot start against Parkway, leading 31-0 at the half. Panther quarterback Bryce Bedwell was 5 of 14 for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Riley Bransteter also threw a touchdown pass to Logan Hunster for 52 yards. Hunter was the leading receptionist for Parkway, catching 3 passes for 69 yards.

Parkway falls to 1-1 and will travel to St. Henry next week.

FT. LORAMIE 14, NEW BREMEN 7 – The Ft. Loramie Indians complete the Auglaize County MAC sweep. Ft. Loramie scored twice in the first half to take a 14-0 lead before holding off the Cardinals in the second half. New Bremen quarterback, Elliot Westerbeck, hit Alex Frideger for an 18 yard touchdown pass for the only Cardinal score of the night. Westerbeck was 13 of 19, for 118 yards.

New Bremen falls to 0-2 and will welcome Marion Local in Week 3.

DELPHOS ST. JOHNS 35, HILLSDALE 7 – The Delphos St. Johns Blue Jays post another victory by traveling to Hillsdale. Jordan Leininger threw and ran for a touchdown score giving St. Johns a 14-0 lead at the break. Bergfeld and Burgei both posted rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter pushing the Blue Jay lead to 28. Burgei capped off the night with a 35 yard rushing score in the 4th quarter propelling St. Johns to a 35-7 win.

Leininger was 8 of 16, for 132 yards. A.J. Klausing reeled in a 50 yard touchdown pass, while Burgei ran for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns. St. Johns moves to 2-0 and will travel to Minster in Week 3.

VERSAILLES 55, GRAHAM 21 – The Versailles Tiger spread offense was on fire last night as they took out Graham. Tiger quarterback, Damian Winner, threw for 4 scores throughout the game.

Versailles moves to 2-0 and will host Ft. Recovery next week.

ANNA 55, FAIRVIEW 14 – Anna rolled to a 2-0 record after pounding Fairview. The Rockets rushed for 339 yards and passed for 211 yards. Rocket quarterback was 8 of 11, for 211 yards and 4 touchdowns. Dexter Bensman added 2 scores on the ground.

Anna moves to 2-0 and will host Coldwater next week in the MAC Game of the Week.

IMPACT PLAY OF THE WEEK – Another fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Marion Local led 16-0 in the second quarter when Josh Berning picked up a fumble and returned it 14 yards for a touchdown and a knockout punch on Springfield Catholic Central.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jay Meyer (Anna) – 8 of 11, 211 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

TEAM OF THE WEEK – Anna Rockets. The Rocket offense tallied 339 yards through the air and 211 yards on the ground in their route of Fairview.

After getting some more information on the Versailles/Graham game, Tiger QB Damian Winner's stats should be noted, 24 of 35 for 322 yards and 4 TD's.
