I'm hearing just the opposite. At a minimum, I think the issue is up for debate :(

Ok I was just going by the article saying that there would be a motion to approve him. I guess that doesn't mean their will be a definite yes vote for him.

At this point, what difference does it make?

A Motion will be made to renew his contract as a point of procedure. The executive session is when the board meets in private after said recommendation to vote on whether to accept the motion to renew or not.

I think the best outcome is the board agrees to give him one more year and he agrees to retire at the end that year. By the luck of the hoops gods, win #900 comes at home, at the end of the game Coach K grabs the mic, says thanks for the memories and retires on the spot.

Oh no, not this again. This happens every year, he has to be renewed each year for a contract. Every school in Ohio does this the same way. There must be at least a little push back or this would have been buried in the normal monthly meeting agenda a month or so ago.

Breaking news - Coach K is going to announce his retirement today at 5pm. Board told him he wouldn't be back so he is retiring.

Look for a resident of Kalida who is currently coaching at another PCL school.

Kalida now will look for a new coach. Was a truly amazing press conference to be at, just brutally honest by Dick on the whole thing and still with class.

Those final words from the king didn't sound like a man who wasn't aware of what was going on. Not sure I could sleep well if I was a member of the Kalida school board or the numerous posters who suggested otherwise.

Because this type of forum is dead and irrelevant, the 3 morons who are fanning the flames of success on this one look like they have prevailed in some monumental way to rid the world of evil. The truth is that on Twitter and Instagram, which are blowing up, the Kalida Board of Ignorance looks foolish and ridiculous. The irony to this all is that Kalida is on the map in Ohio because of Dick Kortokrax, and they will remain so because of this decision.

This decision is not one reflective of Dick, it is one reflective of society today. Kalida has now joined the ranks of the rest of the entitlement driven world. Character, integrity and hard work are not important today anymore apparently. Nice job Kalida BOE, socialism is now a part of your school culture.

From what is being posted on Twitter everywhere, the decision was not his, and the school board went AGAINST the recommendation of the AD and the superintendent. Apparently they met with him earlier in the week and asked HIM to make it easy on THEM and resign, and agree not to go to the media about the situation, as well as, ask his family not to "rock the boat". Are you kidding me?

Their reasons were that NOBODY in the community supported him, and implied that kids do not play or have quit because of his boring practices, and how much he bores them with his coaching style. Seriously. Who are all of these people trying to kid. The feeling on social media is that he would not agree to play underclassmen ahead of upperclassmen so he was threatened with non renewal if he did not "retire". That is in the Columbus paper.

Age and control were the real motivators here.

I can see why some wanted a change and maybe it is time for someone new.......I don't live in the community, so I am just guessing here. If what Dogface Gremlin said was true, that is not the way to do it, especially to a coach of Korto's stature. I like Palacelaw's idea of negotiating that this would be Dick's last season and he could get his farewell tour and his 900 wins. Maybe that was discussed and Coach K said no to it, I don't know. Not that I disagree with the BOE's decision, but more with how they handled it.
