Well I’m not sure he had much to work with there.
Mysterio, your statement should have said, "I'm sure, as is everyone else in the entire area, Utendorf took over a complete disaster at FJ."

How many years should a coach get to turn around a program?

If you have some talent 2-3 years. The situation he took on 8-10 years.

Ya I agree with that. You can’t blame a coach if he doesn’t have talent to work with.

A coach may need years to turn a disaster around. He should be judged on how the program is developing. Is the JV improving? Does he spend time trying to develop grades 4-8? Are players working on their game in the off season? Progress may be under the surface for a few years, but In today’s day and age Survival is not easy.

I know they hired a young coach, but if he is working hard they need to leave him alone for several years. The only exception is if he is ignoring developing the program. This is the perfect situation for a guy with energy to turn this around.

Wow, Continental and Holgate on Thursday is going to be an epic offensive battle....:) First one to 30 likely gets the W. Realistically tonight against Antwerp and Thursday vs Holgate look like they may be the only two winnable games for the Pirates the rest of the year

Continental lost to Antwerp tonight 34-33. the pirates look to get a win this week against a Holgate team that failed to hit double figures Sat. night after a 61-9 loss to Archbold.

Holgate's in for a long season (if it hasn't been long already). Only returning starter back from last years regional team is on the DL for a few weeks, so a lot of underclassmen are tasked with stepping up.

defus, that's a good one. Our BOE is nothing but a bunch of idiots so I hope Curtis sent them cards. I would imagine he's laughing every time he sees one of those idiots. We are in a downward spiral and I can see coach after coach after coach being run out. Maybe one of the idiots should put their name in if the job opens up.

I knew last year that we would be aweful this year. I was hoping for 2 wins but that probably won't happen.

Wow, who knew Holgate had so much offensive firepower? 43-40 over the Pirates.....0-fer is a real possibility this season I think. Hard to believe from a Putnam County team. How close has any of the Putnam County teams ever come to going 0 for the season....anyone have all time records?

Leipsic pulled off an 0-20 season as recent as 2006-07. Ft. Jennings also turned the trick in 2010-11. If the Pirates can't win on 1/4 at Patrick Henry or 1/20 against McComb, Continental has a real chance to become the Cleveland Browns of NW Ohio basketball in 2017-18

Who would have thought that it's going to be a struggle to get 1 win between both programs. Anything more than that will be a bonus. Any thoughts BOE?

I'm not saying that they will fall off next year. I just wasn't impressed with what he (Utendorf) did at Fort Jennings that's all. I do remember this team last year...they started 7 and 2. Then the wheels absolutely fell off. They won just 1 game the rest of the year.

The upper classman that are playing this year (I'm guessing they played last year) learned a lot of basketball under Turnwald. He was a good coach. He just didn't know how to handle the pressure and the parents very well.

Bingo......

My feelings exactly!!!!!!!!!
