Aaron had a great weekend 34 points and 8 assists. It was a great thrill to be in Salem, VA to catch AT and Wash U in action. Aaron is at 567 points in his first two years at Wash U. He has started 57 of the 61 games during that two year span that includes a 3rd place finish in 2007 and now the National Championship in 2008.

AT had another great weekend in the UAA. He scored 46 points on the weekend (including 30 on Sunday afternoon against Carnegie Mellon) and was rewarded with being named the UAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the 3rd time this season. He stands at 854 for his career thus far and the Wash U Bears are 15-1 and currently ranked #2 in the country.

He was also named to the D3 National Team of the Week, for the week ending 1/25/09. That was the second time he was named to the National Team of the Week.

He stands at 901 for his career thus far and the Wash U Bears are 17-1 and currently ranked #2 in the country.

Junior Aaron Thompson has reached the 1000 career point mark for the Wash U Bears. He has one regular season game and at least one NCAA DIII tournament game remaining this season. The Bears are currently 22-2, 12-1 in the UAA and have already clinched the league title and automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA DIII Tournament.

Aaron Thompson (Elida '06) had 47 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Bears 1st and 2nd Round NCAA DIII Men's Basketball Tournament Games in Elmhurst, IL this past weekend.

Aaron Thompson (Elida '06) has helped lead the Wash U Bear basketball team to its' 3rd consecutive NCAA DIII Final Four.

Aaron was also named 1st Team All-Midwest Region for the 2008-09 season.

Aaron Thompson (Elida '06) helped lead his team to their second consecutive Men's Division III National Championship. Aaron had 34 points and 14 rebounds over the weekend. Aaron was also named to the all tournament team and was also named 1st Team All-American.

Washington University- St. Louis has now been in three consectutive Final Fours. 2007 -3rd place, 2008 National Champions and 2009 National Champions.

Washington University Men’s Basketball Ranked No. 1 in Sporting News Preseason Poll; Wallis and Thompson Named Preseason All-Americans
St. Louis, Mo., October 6, 2009 — The two-time defending NCAA Division III national champion Washington University in St. Louis men’s basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the Sporting News College Basketball Magazine top-10 poll, which is currently available on news stands.

Guilford, who was defeated by Washington University in the Final Four and brought home the third-place trophy a year ago, was picked second. National runner-up Richard Stockton and Final Four participant Franklin & Marshall College were chosen No. 3 and No.4, while the College of Wooster, University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, John Carroll University, DeSales, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Brooklyn College rounded out the top-10.

Head coach Mark Edwards guided Washington University to a school-record 29-2 overall mark and the 2009 National Championship with a 61-52 victory over Richard Stockton College on March 21, in Salem, Va. Washington U. also won its ninth University Athletic Association (UAA) title, and advanced to the Final Four for the third time in school history.

The Bears return 15 letterwinners and four starters from last year’s national title team, including preseason first-team All-America selections in graduate student guard Sean Wallis and senior guard Aaron Thompson. Joining Wallis and Thompson on the first team were Darnell Braswell of DeSales University, Santini Lancioni of Richard Stockton College and Tyler Sanborn of Guilford College.

Wallis averaged 11.1 points and a UAA-best and third in all NCAA Divisions 8.1 assists per game and shot 83.5 percent from the foul line a year ago. He was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award and was a first-team all-UAA and second-team D3hoops.com All-America honoree. Wallis was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Wheaton Sectional and the Final Four after averaging 14.5 points and 7.0 assists per game during the Bears’ run to the 2009 National Championship.

Aaron Thompson, (Elida HS, Elida, OH) the 2009 UAA Most Valuable Player, averaged a team-best 18.0 points per game and led the conference with 96 three-pointers made. A first-team National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) All-Region and D3hoops.com All-Midwest Region honoree, he scored in double figures in 29-of-31 games played last season. Thompson averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds at the Final Four en route to NCAA All-Tournament Team honors.

Edwards enters his 29th season on the Danforth Campus with an overall record of 505-236 (.682). The 2009 Molten/DIII News and NABC Division III National Coach of the Year has guided the Bears to a school-record 25-consecutive winning seasons.

Washington University begins its title defense on Sunday, Nov. 15, at home against MacMurray College. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at the WU Field House.

Aaron Thompson Named DIII News Preseason National Player of the Year
St. Louis, Mo., October 7, 2009 — Washington University in St. Louis senior guard Aaron Thompson, Elida, Ohio (Elida) has been named the 2009 DIII News Preseason Player of the Year, as announced by the publication on Wednesday.

Thompson heads the publication’s Top-24 All-Americans that features three players from each of the eight regions. Graduate student Sean Wallis, Northbrook, Ill. (Glenbrook North) was also named a Top-24 selection.

Thompson, the 2009 University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player, averaged a team-best 18.0 points per game and led the conference with 96 three-pointers made. A first-team D3hoops.com and DIII News All-America honoree, he scored in double figures in 29-of-31 games played last season. Thompson averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds at the Final Four en route to NCAA All-Tournament Team honors.

“As the reigning MVP of the toughest Division III league in the country, Aaron has shown he is one of the top players in the country,” said DIII News editor Gary Rubin. “He is expected to have another outstanding year and is most deserving of this award.”

Thompson enters his senior season ranked second in school history in three-pointers (220), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.434), ninth in steals (129), 10th in free-throw percentage (.793), 11th in assists (269) and 17th in scoring (1,124).

DIII News, founded in 1993, is the leading publication covering Division III basketball. It is published by GSR Communications based in Beaverton, Ore.

Washington University, ranked No. 1 in the Sporting News and DIII News Preseason Polls, begins its defense on Sunday, Nov. 15, at home against MacMurray College. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at the WU Field House.

I do not have any of Aaron's High School stats. I would guess that Dawger would have them or know how to get them.

AT's high school stats would be hard to find anywhere, except for maybe his Dad, Denny Thompson, who is Head Coach at Elida, or perhaps, UNOH AD and Head Men's BB Coach, Chris Adams.

Thanks Dawger. I new it was about 800 points but I didn't know the rebounds and such. Should have thought to check the old media guide.

Elida High School grad and Washington University in St. Louis Senior Aaron Thompson moved into 3rd place on the all-time Wash U scoring list with 1,558 points after scoring 23 points in his top ranked team's victory over the University of Chicago. Thompson also broke a school record by playing in his 117th career game. Aaron needs 12 three-pointers to establish a new school record for three-pointers made. Aaron will finish his career as one of the all-time greats at Wash U, one of the premier DIII programs in the country.

The Bears enter the 2010 NCAA DIII National Tournament as the #1 ranked team in the country and the two time defending national champions . They begin their tournament play at home on Friday March 5 against Westminster (MO).

The Washington University in St. Louis Bears were defeated in their quest for a Third Consecutive NCAA DIII National Championship. Illinois Wesleyan defeated Wash U in the second round of the 2010 Tourney 75-70. Senior All-American Aaron Thompson (Elida HS) led the Bears with 20 points on 4-of-10 shooting from three-point range, and finishes his career third all-time in scoring (1,591), second in three-pointers made (289), sixth in assists (340), fourth in steals (163), eight in field goals made (548) and seventh in 3 point field goal percentage at (.425). The Class of 2010 at Wash U ends their career with an overall record of 103-16. Congrats to Aaron Thompson and his senior teammates on a outstanding four years at one of the premier NCAA DIII programs in America.
