Another season is at hand and is their a challenger for the Redskin Dynasty. Coach Rostofer has a young team but that doesnt matter when it comes to this coach.

Bath has a bunch coming back and will probably add Wheeler (?) to the line-up again this year. After that, St. Marys and Defiance possibly.

It is way too early to be making predictions. There are some young guns coming in to different programs. Until we see those guys in action, it is hard to know what each team actually has. :shrug2:

Wapak is young this year from what I am hearing. Heard they took 5th or 6th out of 16 teams at the Findlay duals over the weekend but had 4 weight classes not filled, 2 by no one at that weight and 1 spot by a kid not making weight at the weigh in's and another with skin issues.

I have been seeing alot of skin issues on here. Last year a Celina meet had issues where schools didnt go do to wrestlers with skin issues now a Wapak wrestler not able to wrestle for same thing. Anyone have some insight.

All starts by not cleaning the mats very good. Most coaches lack in doing that I think.

Wapak had ONE kid that had a skin issue. Since it was early in the season, the coaches decided NOT to enter him in the tournament. It was nothing major, just a precaution. These things come up from time to time in the sport, but there are things you can do to protect against skin problems. I know for a fact that Wapak cleans the mats before every practice. I know most other coaches do the same

You must not be around wrestling programs very much. Almost all coaches make the kids shower right after practice along with disinfecting the mats.

Challenger #1 appears to be Defiance, as they defeated the Redskins 33-30 last night. I am certain Bath feels they are in the mix as well. Wapak and Bath wrestle next Thursday 12/19 at Elida. Beezer, If Bath can get Wapak, it may be time to re-evaluate.

Defiance seems to be a fine contender and has fired the first true volley across the bow of the all-mighty Wapakoneta Redskins... Van Wert, Kenton, Elida and OG appear to be stuck in each other's way, Celina and St. Marys can be scary but not league championship material.

So in essence it seems as though it could come down to a 4 horse race, in alphabetical order Bath, Defiance, Shawnee and Wapak. Each of these schools should have a couple league champions in their lineups.

With Defiance backhanding Wapak and Wapak roughing up a solid Shawnee team...it appears Wapak is poised to solidify itself back at the top of the WBL Thursday against Lima Bath or hand the league title to Bath or Defiance.

Wapak was not at full strength, but neither was Defiance. It happens in a tough sport like wrestling. Bottom line is Defiance won the dual and you have to respect that. Wapak must wrestle better than last Thursday if they want to beat Bath. They are a solid team and have had early season success.

When I say "They are a solid team", I am referring to Bath....

Big night in the WBL; Bath vs. Wapak and Defiance wrestles both Celina and St. Marys. League picture will be a little clearer by end of the night. If Bath can beat Wapak, it almost certainly puts a one year halt to the "dynasty"

Gentlemen,
Last night was very interesting to say the least... Hats off to a very we'll coached Lima Bath and Defiance teams... Wapak will be a different team at WBL's but it seems the redskins have made their bed soundly in the regular season.

Defiance is a very powerful team that will give Lima Bath a real charge when they meet head to head, not saying that Defiance will win but stranger things have happened...

Super Tri at Elida
Bath 46 Wapakoneta 27
Wapakoneta 55 Elida 12
Elida 41 Kenton 36
Bath 62 Kenton 9

Super Tri at St. Marys
St. Marys 43 Shawnee 25
Defiance 48 St. Marys 14
Defiance 52 Celina 15
Celina 45 Shawnee 22

Congratualtions to Bath on a big victory. I am confident Wapak will be much more competitive at the WBL tournament, but 2 losses is a huge hurdle. Bath vs. Defiance should be a great match. Not sure I understood Bass_rat completely, on his projection of a winner, but I am sure which ever team wins this dual will have earned it. From end of season results last year, Bath would appear to be favorite with more returning wrestlers plus getting Wheeler back, but Defiance has posted impressive early season scores. Thoughts anyone?

The reason everything seems so quite on this forum is because Wapak is not ripping through the WBL; however I am sure they are not going to dissolve the program so Wapak will be back. The duel on the 9th of January will be very interesting. Bath and Defiance will have their teams at full strength so the wrestling will be quite exciting. I have been hearing a lot of chatter from the Defiance faithful that Bath does not have enough firepower to beat them in a duel format however after looking at the gap against Wapak I am skeptical. Defiance beat Wapak by 3 and Bath won by 19. Thoughts?

Bath has the firepower to match Defiance, Bath is a well balanced team top to bottom.
Coming into the season Wapak and Bath were the teams to beat with Defiance, St. Marys, the next tier down. Wapak has been hurt by injuries/skin issues. Wapak will be locked and loaded come the WBL tourney. This year Wapak will be playing the spoiler role with 2 league losses.

Bath has done nothing to fall out of the favorites role. Look for an entertaining dual, but at the end Bath wins the dual.

After the impressive showing that Bath and Defiance had at the holiday this duel should be very interesting! Bath lost a couple matches to Defiance directly... 10 days till the Showdown!!!

Who wins? And how??
