Just saw where he passed away...RIP....Lot of football talent here that never got a chance to put it all together...
You'll be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field. - Jim Tressel

The worst part is that he spent so much of his life in trouble with the law. Then, after getting cut by the Bengals, he seemed to have finally put his life back together. It was repeated by members of the team since he came back last year that he was changed after getting cut. Humbled, if you will, realizing that even with all that talent, he still has to behave. Appeared to turn his life around.

Then this happens.

All the "what if's" jump out there. I guess the biggest is "what if he hadn't gotten hurt against Baltimore"? Would have been practicing Wednesday instead.

Such a sad story.

May he RIP.

Completely agree with everything here. Hopefully his legacy will end up being that he showed people, especially young people, that it's never too late to make a change in your life. Even if you get in trouble and lose everything for a period, hard work and a will to change can pay off.

My thoughts go out first and foremost to his children, and then to his teammates who probably spent more time with him in the last few years then everyone else. I don't like the Bengals, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Super Bowl run now.

Agreed. Hard work and that belief can truly make a difference in a man's life.

R.I.P. Chris Henry.

Never too late to make a change ... hmm ... had he changed, or was this just another incident where he lost control? He wasn't hit by a car while crossing the street. He jumped into the back of a pickup that was speeding off, while fighting with his girlfriend. Obviously just another piece of poor judgment by someone who had been a detriment to himself and those around him most of his adult life. Check out his track record. Do you think his NFL benefits will take care of his 3 kids, or will you and I? Sad, yes. Could he have been someone to admire for "turning it around"? Maybe. But "stupid-free" for one year or so after that many years of screw-ups doesn't make him someone your kids should look up to.

Wouldn't say it's "obvious" until the facts come out but nonetheless a bad situation from a guy that at least seemed to be trying to turn things around.

Unfortunately, we'll never get to know whether he truly could have completely changed. Just too many details missing in this case to be able to know what happened. Who started the fight? Maybe she started it, he wanted to talk, and she left. Him jumping into the truck has me scratching my head, but maybe he was afraid that she'd leave and not come back and he figured that was his best way of keeping her.

In the end, it's a tragedy especially for his family and teammates. None of us personally knew him and all we can go based off is the interviews with others.
