Tigger.. please enlighten me as to what purpose this will have for anything or anyone involved other than playing a little longer than what once thought possible.
Who else are they going after? I had heard the Politz.. I'm sure they are preoccupied with..a JOB. A real job that a real degree got them at Miami AFTER college..
Butler, once thought OSU's best Point guard ever is now a whisper with AC running the point. Showing what real defense is..
Picked up for drugs.. now the first signee BEFORE the president was announced, BEFORE the head coach was announced..He's no american hero to come back to Lima and play infront of 75 people nightly. Give me a break.
So If I'm missing something that this team will bring the community - or anything else important please enlighten me. Really, I will highly consider rethinking my opinion on this subject if good things are to come from this.
Not everyone is going to play bball after college. It's just simply not for everyone. I get it. Why have some old school, high school stand outs come out and tryy out for this team.. Whats it going to do for them? They're going to have to quit a job to travel around a couple of states and play basketball for what? $3000 a year?
It won't last 2 years.
Well, the point was to give these young men who feel they still have some time left playing a game they love a chance to showcase their skills and possibly be seen(some games are in Detroit, Chicago, Indy etc) by NBA scouts or scouts for overseas teams and possibly go on to continue to get paid to play professionally even if it is outside of Lima. They're not trying to keep anyone here, but rather be able to mutually take advantage of their skills.
You mentioned the Pollitz twins specifically so I'll address that. They may not even come TO the tryout, they may be set in their life and jobs I don't know, but there's no harm in them being invited to come try out and use this opportunity to be seen playing and possibly go on to bigger things is there? If they don't want to come play, then fine....congrats to them on their past success and best wishes on their future success in life. Nobody is forcing them to do anything.
You are incorrect on your point about how the GM and President weren't announced before Jamar. They have been in place and visible for quite some time now....and were both announced at the press conference last week BEFORE Jamar was even brought up to the table. I don't know what your personal hate for Jamar is, but it's ridiculous. Nobody said he was an "american hero returning home", they said he's a fine basketball player who is marketable(think about it from a business standpoint, it just makes good fiscal sense) to play the game he loves and get paid. He made some mistakes in life yes, just like ANYONE ELSE....yourself included, and owned up to them. Is he not entitled to a fresh start or second chance? To think otherwise is just idiotic.
Explain this to me, how does this even possibly HURT the community to get an entertainment outlet and be in a little bit of a spotlight positively for once?
Bringing in former high school/college players from the area once again is just good business....a lot of the thing about starting this up is getting players people know and want to see play or remember from the community, esp those who might bring their family and friends and help promote a family atmosphere, what is wrong with that?
I get that you don't like the idea, not really sure what you have against players WHO WANT A SECOND CHANCE to play, but that's your deal.
Thanks for the banter, and have a good one.
Don't find fault, find a remedy.
