Liberty benton is going nowhere unless the league does the same thing to them as the NWC did........ winning 98 percent of the all sports trophies the last 30 years is too good to give up...............

Who won it last year? And 30 years. Go check your facts.

30 years ago, Liberty-Benton was usually an easy win on our schedule. I'm guessing that 30 years from now, we might see a "powerhouse" that (at this point and time) we would never imagine to be so good.

It's called "things going in cycles"...

It seems to me it was about 1993 or so that L-B started to do well in sports.
Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

To me, it started around 1983 with a girl named Deanna Horne, and an underclassman Micki Bish...girls' cross country. From that point on, a dynasty was born. The entire district really took to their success and it snowballed from there. Now, L-B EXPECTS nothing less than excellence in their athletics. This is not to say that I'm a fan, but I think every other school in the surrounding area envies their success.

There will come a day when it is some other school's turn to be "king of the hill"...however, with L-B's proximity to Findlay (a nice, small city which attracts business-type jobs $$$), and being an alternative to being a "city" school, they will continue to attract upstanding, well-to-do families with the attitude it takes to be better than everybody else.

I think, however, that L-B SHOULD stay in the BVC, and the idea of the BVC expanding is extremely interesting to me. I'd love to see it happen ASAP, and have Riverdale invited to join. We'd be silly to turn it down.

I think add Riverdale, Lima Perry, and Hopewell for sure. Then find a D5 school not named LCC, I would like Bluffton but I think it be a MAL school, in a perfect world Carey.

PH and lakota will not be invited due to logistics. North Baltimore is the sleeper. Close to Findlay and competitive with the smaller BVC schools. I think it will take inclusion of NB to get support from the majority of BVC schools to accept expansion.

NB also already plays many of the BVC schools in non-league contests in many sports and has relatively easy access of 75, so I could also see them being a possible fit.

I think if your going to add you add quality. Proximity or not, I don't see NB fitting that description. The new school does add a bit of attractiveness.

Cannot disagree with your quality statement. It's difficult to find a good small school to meet that criteria. Your looking at a small number of invitees to meet the needs of Vanlue, Arcadia, and HN to get their buy in.. That list only includes NB, USV and Lima Perry on the list. A Tiffin Calvert has nice facilities, but I'm guessing the bottom 3 BVC schools would have difficulty competing with them year and year out.

I believe they are very set where they are. Hancock Co is old school.
I think you understated this: I think they are great, great, great, grandpa school.

Yes, to a point. You do have to admit when you have two and sometimes three times the number of students as the other schools in your conference, it makes a difference. You may have a few off years where you don't win the league, but anything below 3rd 4th place is unheard of. An area where that can hurt you is offering multiple sports in the same season. For instance, LB has, football, soccer, cross country and golf in the fall for guys, and volleyball, cross country, soccer and golf for the girls. This can especially hurt the girls programs as there are typically fewer athletes on the girls side. Especially when LB has such a huge CC program.

What I don't get is why a school like Lakota struggles in football and boys basketball like they do. I thought when they went to the MAL and got away from the Genoa's and Eastwood's of the world things would change. I think it's actually gotten worse. They are the largest school in the league and have been churning out embarrassing results. I think Calvert led them 31-0 in the first quarter Friday night in basketball before they managed to get on the board.

I watched them in football this year and they had decent size kids, but were slow and unathletic with no desire. To boot, they literally had 6-7 people in the stands. What gives with this district???

Wait until after consolidation before looking at expansion. The state will be helping you with your decisions.

Simple math, when you combine schools there will be less. Thus conferences will be fighting to secure these fewer teams into their league..
