Leipsic Vikings knock off last season's state champs Crestview to earn a spot in the districts against the Blue Jays of Delphos St. John's. These 2 schools have met up on the gridiron a few teams recently.........but not sure about basketball.

Good luck to the Leipsic Vikings. Let's make it an all PCL final

Game 2 pits Miller City and Columbus Grove........the wildcats beat CG at Grove a few weeks ago 53-50.

3 PCL and a MAC school in the (field) House.

thoughts, predictions?

I don't know about outcomes or predictions but if the games those 4 teams were involved in tonight are any indication, get there and get a ticket because it's going to be a fun night.

Leipsic came in as the favorite last night with the depleted Crestview team. Leipzig found themselves down early but came back and held on to win. Injuries took Crestview from a good team to a mediocre team at best.

Good luck rest of the tournament.

It's been real.

I realize it's been a tough couple of days for you with your girls and boys losing in back to back days and canceling your rooms in Columbus for the girls tourney, but how about giving Leipsic a little credit. They were down 12 in the 2nd quarter and called a time out. Coach Maag told them if they didn't start playing they were going home. They responded, cut it to 4 at the half, tied it up after 3, and won 48-47, playing great team D on the last shot. They showed heart and passion for the game to come back when they could of folded the tents and went home.
Everyone has injuries this time of year but you still play who is put in front of you. Instead of blaming injuries, how about giving the other team their just do. If your attitude is the norm in Knight land, I now understand why a Van Wert tourney worker was not sad to see the outcome turn out the way it did.

This District is over. St John's will move on to BG. Way more battle tested than the other teams with no disrespect intended. MC and Grove have had good years, but St John's size, strength, and strength of schedule will show up big in this District. They dismantled a Lincolnview team with all the athletic pieces and just made them look awful. In my opinion, especially today, there is something to be said for strength of schedule. Playing Versailles, Marion, St Henry, Coldwater is big. The PCL is nowhere close to being what it once was.....just saying. I think the Jays will just be too hard to handle. No one is really talking much about them either.....they're just flying under the radar......I could see them getting to CBus

Outspoken.......

I totally agree with your entire post.....no one has said a word about the Jays all season, and I think the biggest difference between them and other teams is that they will defend....and many times that will destroy a team's rhythm!!!!!!!

Wow, It's two days before the first game of Districts and you've got DSJ in Columbus already. No pressure there. I was impressed with the Jays defense Friday night. Also, their style of play makes a 5 point lead seem like 10, and a 10 point lead seem like 25. And if a team is forced to foul, the guards shot very well from the foul line. No doubt, they will be a tough out. But putting them in Columbus already, may be getting ahead of yourselves. It may very well happen, but it's tournament time and a lot of things could happen. I just hope my Vikes can put four quarters together for the first time all year against a good team. If they do, I think we have a shot. Either way, good luck to the Jays and Hope for a good, clean, non-injury game

St. Johns may win the district they are a good team. No debating that. I have heard the conference St. John's is in is good ( over and over and over again.) You need to take a closer look at everyone's entire schedule before you bash it. You might be surprised at some of the teams they have played. If you think St Johns will have a cake walk to regionals you might go home disappointed.

Hey John, can you read??? I didn't bash anyone else's schedule!! I stated a FACT......The PCL ain't what she used to be. If you can't see that, you need to take the blindfold off. Secondly, I do know the schedules that all of these teams play! The Jays, in addition to the MAC schedule, plays LCC, some WBL teams along with others. And I haven't forgotten the Regional either......there's a damn good Wayne Trace team that I know a lot about. There's also an undefeated Gibsonburg team and a Plymouth team with an absolute monster of a beast player who's scored 1000 along with a teammate who's scored 1000. All I'm saying is that my OPINiON is that the Jays are my favorite to move on from Elida. The other 3 teams have had good years too, but DSJ is scary to me if I'm Leipsic, Grove, or MC. And by the way, I won't go home disappointed if the Jays don't win the District......they're not my team.....but I'm not blinded by my own fanship to not recognize and give credit to other good teams.

Irish Viking---

You couldn't be further from the truth. Talking to some some JO Schmo from Van Wert means absolutely nothing about Convoy or Crestview people. It's not the norm. All of the Crestview people have been very gracious to Ottoville and their girls. I congratulated Leipsic but losing multiple starters in the past week is the reality of the situation.

Looking forward to playing Leipsic in the future for sure NOW!

Thanks Flounder. Likewise to you and DSJ. There is a mutual respect b/w our programs. I hope you all drill Leipsic.

Brinn, I hope you never get mad at me or the Pirates. I went to watch Crestview play at State last year and even went to Frickers with some of the good folks from Knight country. Had a blast!

So if someone agrees with you, there is mutual respect, but if someone says something you disagree with, you hope their team gets drilled. THANKS FOR MAKING MY POINT FOR ME! As far as being gracious to the Ottoville girls, after they beat Crestiveiw, you said, and I quote, " Ottoville is not a great team" Sounds gracious to me. We may very well "get drilled" by St. John's Tuesday night, but if we do, we will congratulate the Jay's and say they were the better team that night, not make excuses like you do. As far as the future, we won't back down from anyone, and we have nine juniors and a sophomore coming back next year. We don't lose anyone. One thing for sure, while we will still be playing Tuesday night, cheering on our Vikes, you will be sitting at home.

Didn't St Johns lose to a 12-10 O'ville team (from the PCL, just a reminder)....point being,D4 is wide open & I wouldn't be surprised if MC,CG or StJ made it out...Sorry Leipsic, just don't see it happening.
