The OHSAA posted the enrollment numbers for the next 2 years today:

http://www.ohsaa.org.../hsenroll13.htm

Here is what happened for the WBL schools. The first number is the enrollment for this past period. The 2nd number is the new enrollment number. The 3rd number is the projected division in football. Remember there will be 7 divisions this coming season and the division assignments could be affected by the pending competitive balance proposal

Bath--216--331--3
Celina--328--339--3
Defiance--318--334--3
Elida--316--427--3
Kenton--226--285--4
Ottawa-Glandorf--208--214--5
Shawnee--289-387--3
St. Marys--285-293--3
Van Wert--233--270--4
Wapakoneta--359--442--2

Some observations: Huge gains by Bath, Elida, Shawnee, and Wapak. OG by far the smallest school in the WBL now. If Lima Sr. was in the WBL they would be only the 3rd largest school.

Just some other observations on NW Ohio:

It was thought that Fostoria would continue to shrink but their boys enrollment increased from 206 to 266.

Always thought of Tontogany Otsego as a smaller rural school but their boys enrollment increased from 216 to 368.

Much has been made about Holgate just not being a big enough school to sustain a football program but their new number is identical to that of Leipsic(76).

Feel free to add any of your own observations or comments.

Ada would be a small Division 6 team? With the projected 117 boys, does that keep them in D VI or will they drop to D VII
The humble hero is the one ignored.

Looking at the Ohio Department of Education (EMIS) numbers which the OHSAA uses for official enrollment numbers there is in some case some very significant differences between what is on the ODE website and what the OHSAA has published. http://education.ohi...&Content=142547

Ada would be a D-7 school. Cutoff looks to be around 147.

Is this official on cut offs ( without possible "wayne county" proposal being voted in)

Tiffin Calvert's boys # was 98 four years ago...OHSAA listed 2013 at 45. 2011 was 68.

Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

No offense, but I don't think those or hardly any of the other numbers are accurate. At all. Some of those numbers are a train wreck.

No it isn't and reading on different sites many people seem to be disputing a lot of the numbers anyway.

The Village of Bluffton is in full house to house search for the additional 75 boys that the OHSAA says are in attendance at Bluffton High School.
(2010 - Boy's Enrollment 131) vs. (2012 - Boy's Enrollment 206) Bluffton suddenly surged to be nearly as large as Ottawa-Glandorf (2012 - Boy's Enrollment 214) Bluffton goes from almost D-4 to almost D-2, in boy's basketball, in two years????

ODE Enrollment Numbers - Bluffton Exempted Village School Fall 2012:
Grade 9 - 85
Grade 10 - 90
Grade 11 - 95
Total - 270

OHSAA says Bluffton Exempted Village Schools Fall 2012:
Boys - 206
Girls - 179
Total - 385

Unless all of the open enrollees choose to enroll after October of each school year, they would always be included in the official ODE-EMIS counts.

PH old count for boys was 130 and girls was 118. New count is 174 (+44) and 140 (+22). This seems odd considering that the ODE has 160 boys and 149 girls in the entire high school (all 4 grades). The boys count should be around 120 and the girls count around 110.

Probably a lot of schools counting all 4 grades. Which is crazy. Every time new enrollment numbers come out plenty of schools report the wrong numbers. Some schools on more than one occasion.

You think they would have it documented somewhere or would say to themselves, "didn't we screw this up last time?"

I wouldn't put the blame on the schools unless they are reporting them wrong on purpose which 99.9% of the time isn't the case. Someone's job is worth fudging the numbers for sports. They know how to report the numbers to the ODE. I know for a fact that many schools (one of them mentioned above) are appealing the numbers found on the OHSAA website.

I highly doubt the accuracy of the numbers if they are ascertained in the same manner as the 2010 numbers. For some reason, I highly doubt every WBL school grew in enrollment size. I was actually expecting to see quite a few of them drop in numbers, yet they are telling me that every one of them grew in size...some ridiculously fast in size. No way that's right.
