I thought Johnny "clipboard" looked disinterested in the first half, and didn't seem to realize the camera was going to him every stinking time Hoyer made a mistake.

Here is my last take on why i do not like the idea Manziel. NOthing against what he does, but what he does is who he is. IF you take that away, then he is not Johnny football, and not in his comfort zone. Unfortuantely what he does could get him injured quicker than the say Payton Manning, Andrew Luck, Tom Brady. College teams have the luxioury that pro teams don't, they don't have salary caps. They can carry 4 QB's that are athletic on the team, and not worry about money. They also only have the QB for 2 -3 years, and he is gone. So they can use him up. QB's are so hard to come by. 20 QB's since coming back the Browns have went thru. Still trying to find that guy. Andrew Luck is that guy, big strong, smart, and can run if need be. Not run because we can. CAM Newton is 240! that is huge difference in taking hits. BRains are the most important aspect for a QB once you hit that level of play, and getting a college player who has played in pro system, would be better than playing in a system designed just for him. NFL offensive coordinators, won't design their entire offense around what one guy can do, they will want him to change.
RGIII ex. took away his legs, and ask him to throw more, and now defenses, are teeing off on him, not honoring him running. Why because he got hurt so now they are trying to protect their investment. Which makes sense, but it takes away one of his most important talents. Pocket presence was never his strong suit, it was okay, but because he could run, they gave him the pocket to keep him from running, now he isn't running they are charging down field at him. Just my two cents.

Running QB's is exciting for the fans, but it is a long term nightmare for GM and Coaches sense a QB can make or break a team, it also make or breaks their jobs. And their is a difference in a QB that is mobile, than one who is an athlete.

Did you expect him to show up in spankys holding pompom's? Give me a break, when has a backup ever been excited to not be paying.

RG3 was 29/37 with a 97 passer rating. That's not exactly getting "teed off on".

YOu left out he only ran the ball three times for 2 yards, and was sacked 3 times for minus 26 yards. He didn't run like they did his rookie year is all I am saying.

yeah, that would be good pom pom's.

Exactly.
You prove me right again.
I agree with you he doesn't run like he did in '12. That's the point. He's throwing more.
You can't say RG3 is a bad pocket qb one minute, then when faced with the facts that he's clearly capable throwing the ball change directions and say " Well your forgot he ran the ball 3 times and got sacked 3 times"

What does that prove?

So nothing, Johnny finally got to play against NFL starters, and it was clear he isn't ready for the NFL. This isnt college, and the SEC. he didn't look comfortable at all ever. The ravens game will be fun. They will have to win to stay in the playoff hunt so they will be in full force, and they will have two weeks of film on Manziel. So it will only get worse before it gets better. Hoyer may not have been getting it done but he was taken the hits that now Manziel will be taken before he is ready.

Pump the brakes now guy. Yeah he was awful, really awful. He got zero help from anyone. He absolutely contributed to that loss, but my god the entire team looked terrified. I don't know what kind of pop Warner offense Shanahan was trying to run but it clearly didn't work. As horrible as he played if you watched the game you know you can't put it all on Johnny.

The Gamekeepers and Merril Hoge's of the world are just giddy right now, I know. How can you write him off already? Elway threw 4 pics in his first start. Didn't find the endzone till his 4th. Bernie fumbled his first snap as a Brown. Those guys turned out alright didn't they?

Browns fans are so tired of this dog and pony show they'll do anything for winner. You have to see the forest through the trees. Like him or not he's the quarterback of our team, giving up after one start is foolish.

Oh, I get that it wasn't all his fault, I do the team was god awful. But the team hasn't been that good all season, and when Gordon came back and the pieces didn't lead to wins. Johnny fans were swearing he could win, he wouldn't lose that game because he can run the ball when the line breaks down. He can throw from the run, and throw from the pocket. He can take off and pick up 15 yards if no one is open. I wouldn't bag on the guy if I hadn't had to listen to all the Manziel fans tell me how great he was going to be when he got in. He wouldn't have lost that game that Hoyer did. Hoyer was not great by no means, but he was leading the team of rookies and at least keeping them competative. They didn't have to put in some special offense so he could play. Which by the way means everyone must learn a new offense. Gordon hasn't even learned the first offense let alone another one. But there is NO denying he way over his head. He hasn't prepared, and that was clear. Plus like i said before, tell me look at him physically, If that was the first time you ever saw him, your telling me you are excited that is the Browns QB. Dont' tell me you looked at him on the field and said, Payton sucked his first game we'll be okay and Even Elway looked bad we will be alright. You looked that stuff up just to try to remain positive that this kid will be able to play. Speaking of play calling, am I the only one that think Shanahan has no clue of the personal he has and has made no adjustments to his scheme.

Drew Brees, Len Dawson, Fran Tarkenton, Joe Theisman, Mark Brunell, Jeff Garcia, Johnny Unitas, Bart Star, Jim Mcmahon, Otto Graham, Brian Sipe, Arron Rodgers, Steve Young, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, Kurt Warner, Ken Anderson, Tony Romo, Matt Stafford, Steve Mcnair. I'm sure there's tons more. I'd bet anything at some point all these guys we're told they were too short to play quarterback in the NFL. I'm sure theres tons more that i'm missing.

By your judgment all to short to play right? Good quarterbacks only come in one size, 6'5" 250 right? calling someone too short to play is a lazy mans way of saying I have nothing else to bitch about.

Brian Hoyer was a damn cry baby, every time it hit the fan he never took the blame which was clearly his. I thought he was going to start crying during the Buffalo game. Pouting and blaming your teammates is pretty ridiculous for an NFL QB.

You're over reacting, I get it. You hate Manziel, I get it. But don't starting spouting off because of your bias and have no idea what your talking about. I'm sure watching that game sunday was one of the proudest moments of your life. Pathetic since you consider yourself a Browns fan.

No I didn't look it up. I remember it. John Elway was Johnny Manziel before social media. That stunt he pulled on Baltimore, then the hold out with the yankees, he was a spoiled rich kid. He went like 9 for 30 something and 3 picks his first start. If you were denvers GM back then, he'd been sweeping floors at Costco after one game right? You've seen all you'll ever need after 60 min,

Oh, Russell Wilson, forgot about him. Can't win superbowls under 6'5"?

He has a better arm that Joe Montana, Payton Manning, and Fran Tarkington. He has about the same arm as Drew Brees and Steve Young. He has a worse arm that Jeff George, Jay Cutler, Derek Anderson, and Brandon Weeden. As you can see, its hard to predict his future based on that criteria

Exactly, people scoffed at the Colts for not taking Leaf. Aaron Rodgers fell 20 spots on draft day because people thought his style wouldn't translate. You never know.

Now that being said if they would have taken him with their first pick I would not have liked it. Had Johnny not been there at 22 they were going to take Bitonio, who was their first choice at that spot anyway. As luck would have it they still got their man.

wow, I am a hater that is clear won't deny it. But your arguement to me is it's his first game. Okay, what happened to he can scramble and pick up yards when they play breaks down, that didn't happen that is a fact. His throws downfield floated that is a fact. I am not just spouting off, because I do not think he can't play in the NFL. I am stating facts from what everyone saw. He got tackled by a d line man that was reaching up from the ground. Okay so how many games do I have to give him to be bad, because we are stuck with him for the rest of this season and all of next before I can say to you I told you so. Just let me know, I mean i dont' want to seem unfair. By the way Elway, was touted much higher as being a sure thing in the NFL. I have watched Bortles, Carr from Oakland both have had bad games, both I feel will be more successful in the NFL than Johnny. I think Carr is the real deal for Oakland and deserves time to see, so it's not a rookie thing with not being patient. I like Russell wilson, He is a smart QB manziel isn't built anywhere as thick as Wilson. Maybe same height but body types are much different than Drew Breese and wilson.

Oh, and you do realize Hoyer as bad as had played beat the Bengals with the same team only three weeks ago. Now I am clearly not saying Hoyer starts they win, but I bet they score, and move the ball. I am also not saying Hoyer should be the long term. BUT if the browns can't run the ball, and dont' get more playmakers then i don't care who the QB is they are not going to be successful. The play action can't work if you can't run period. The Browns have to run the ball to be successful and no matter if agree with me or not on the QB, the fact the Browns at week 15 still haven't figured out how to run the ball is not HOyer, or Manziels fault. There are teams that lose a Key lineman and still are able to replace them with a guy, or change the scheme with the new guy to run something. Steelers line has been beat up and banged up over that past three years, and they still manage to get Running backs to pick up short yardage first downs, and run in the red zone.

here's a fact. It was his first start. Also, watch the game. The "one armed" sack is misleading. The guy tripped him, he was already on his way down when he grabbed him.
That line couldn't block a doorway on Sunday. They started drives inside the 15 multiple times! False starts and holding calls put them in 2 and long constantly! The running game was non existent. Than ran something like 35 offensive plays! How many passes did he throw? 15 or 16? They had 3 drops in less than 20 attempts! Come on guy, who's going to succeed in that situation? Hell yeah he made some horrible throws. No denying that.

You can't bail on him yet. Good quarterbacks, with the exception of Andrew Luck, are developed. It doesn't happen overnight. You have to accept the up's and downs that come with it. Browns fans as a whole are so impatient. My buddy called me today to tell me we gotta go after Hackenberg in 2016. Seriously? That's a typical browns fan mentality.

Not making an excuse, just the facts.

Totally agree with everything you said about it is his first game and can't bail. YOu are right. It is also nuts to think this kid was going to come in and light up the NFL, and for 14 weeks all the Manziel fans kept screaming and begging for him to get in, because he is better than HOyer He would have won that game. He wouldn't miss that pass, he can scramble and make plays. My point has always been, he wasn't ready and isn't as ready as they had hoped or he would have played along time ago. I don't think he put in the time to get him to a position to be a starter until they annouced him the starter. He even said that he hadn't been working any extra until last week. That doesn't make me feel confident he is going to work hard moving forward. If you weren't even willing to work hard to improve your game to win a job then How do you expect me to believe he will to keep it. He clearly thought his skill set was good enough to play. It's his job now, and maybe he will prove me wrong, which would be awesome because 21 Qb's since 1999 is just plain sad, but I think we put our faith in an immature kid that has suddenly found himself not the best athlete on the field, and will be looking for number 22 soon. Sunday he can't play any worse, so he has that going for him already.

so Manziel has to start next week if he can go. I mean if the hammy can go then he needs to play. No sense in going back, Hoyer is done at this point so Manziel needs to play as much as he can.

I have been a Browns fan for 50 years. BUT...Johnny Clipboard is small, immature, appears to be not focused, and at this point is just not good. Time will tell, but I "think" he is another Tim Tebow or Andre Ware. A lot of hype.
