Can't speak for the last 50 years, but since I have been in the area, here is my guess for Liberty-Benton:

AJ Granger - Mich. St (National Champs)

Nathan Hyde - Univ of Findlay (National Champs)

Aaron Craft - Ohio State (first Buckeye to have 1,000 points, 500 assists, and 200 steals)

I don't know of any 3 players better than thos 3 coming from a small high school........I also remember Butler when he played with Granger....to me, that was the best D4 team ever!!!!!

Yes in the last 15 years or so Liberty-Benton has probably turned out more good players than anybody in Northwest Ohio. Still waiting for some Shawnee and Crestview fans. I think they both have an obvious #1-(Jamar Butler and Doug.Etzler) but interested to hear who people think are there to next best players. Also Celina, Miller City, Archbold, Columbus Grove, Jackson Center fans and anyone else feel free to weigh in. Like I said before most teams in this area have turned out at least a couple good players over the years.

Elida I know I have probably missed someone but here's what I have:

Marc Bishop- played in 90s and went to Findlay and had a great career there too.

Reggie McAdams- is the all time leading scorer at Elida but not for long.

Dakota Mathias- I know he has even graduated but he is the best basketball player to go through Elida. He can do everything on the floor.

Another one I think of is Jim Baxter he was a pretty good player in his day too.

imho, Patrick Henry would include Jim Hoops, Dale Creager and from there you could choose one of the Seemann brothers or one of the three members from the class of '98...Chris Gerken, Brian Hieber or Tony Hiser.

Cory-Rawson

Joe Faine
Bill Faine
George Keller.....he would be a little outside the 50 years.
Scott Crawford......honorable mention.

You didn't even touch the tip........Gene Klaus, Jim and Jerry Carder, Jack Kill(er), Jim Arnzen, Pat Koester, Al Kortokrax, Ron Shoemacher, Kevin Trentman, Mark Wurst, Steve Jettinghoff, Greg Grothouse, Gavin Sever, Mike Anthony, Rocky Klaus.........all of these players I feel were unselfish and played the total game....great D as well as the offensive side........during the Norris years, there really wasn't.....what you could call a great go to guy.......it was all about the team.....also, I really liked Ryan Buschor from last season.....very unselfish and great team player!!!!!

Flounder I was just thinking that's why I miss the Alumni Preview, always loved to see how the current players could do against the old timers- some of the greats from the past. Unfortunately today I'm getting closer and closer to be a an old old timer :-)

Totally agree with Hoops and Creager, and I would pick one of the Seemann boys for the 3rd. A couple of others deserving mention are Kim Kirkendall and Denns Bostleman.

Those are the three I would pick as well, but then you are leaving off guys like Andy Butler, Matt Moser, Jason and Brady Hoane. Wow.

I don't see any way that Greg Kampe can be omitted from this list. He put more effort into the game than anyone I have ever seen on a basketball court bar none. His incredible physical condition allowed him to play all night and be playing just as hard as when the game began. It was due to Kampe stealing the ball as a sophomore that allowed Defiance to hand Napoleon their first ever loss at the "Grand Canyon". I think Napoleon had won 40 straight home games at the "Grand Canyon" until Defiance beat them 63-60.

I've got no problem at all with Kampe being on the list. Like I said, I haven't been around enough to accurately rank the players from the 70s. I've been told he was a good one. And obviously what he's done since his playing career ended speaks for itself.

All great choices. But Jim Wannemacher falls just out of the 50 yr range. Still one of the greats. You could say the entire 1933-1934 team. All great. You could even add Tim Turnwald , Chris Horstman, but to honestly do it we should say before and after 3 pt. Because that changed the whole game.

Convoy Crestview---

1) Doug Etzler
2) Jim Haggerty
3) Ryan Rase/Michael Vining/Brett Norris

The 3rd spot is extremely hard to fill with so many talented players over the years at Crestview.

And Norris did a pretty good job as coach at St. John's, Don't think a lot of Blue Jays fans appreciated how good of a job he did. By the way I was wondering is he still coaching at Hilliard? Yes Crestview is one of those schools with a long tradition where I knew it would be hard to pick just the top 3.

I would have to say from OG in no order
Tim Pollitz
Eric Pollitz
Tyson McGlaughlin
Todd Schoemaker
Brad Schoemaker
Terry Morman
Ryan Maag
TJ Metzger (because of his unbelievable tourney run)
Tom Heckman

Brett Norris left Hilliard Darby in 2011 and spent one year at Upper Arlington as asst coach.
He now is the asst coach at Capital Univ here in Columbus.

That is a good list, I can't believe I left Ryan maag off of my top 6. TJ Metzger also very deserving, 3 year starter/ almost 1000 points/ soph point guard led team to regionals, Jr. year state semis, last year state championship and MVP of the D-III final 4. No doubt one of the best ever.
