I started my 2015 folder tonight and figured I might as well start the contest, although I have little faith the participation number won't drop again. After all that happened last school year I never thought football would be afterthought for me, but here we go.

Game of the week: Of course, Kenton/Coldwater

Defiance plays Thursday this year so remember to get your picks in by 7pm Thursday. Interesting that DelJeff is playing Shawnee, I don't remember hearing about that. Glad Shawnee is no longer facing Marion Local though. Jefferson is also the only new WBL opponent in week 1 this year, although Bath and Elida swapped opponents too. I wonder if both Delphos schools have ever played WBL teams in the same season. 6 home games against 4 away games in week 1, the opposite of last year. Reminder that the schedule flips this year, and last year's week 10 opponent will be this year's week 2 opponent.

If you forgot by Thursday, you can still take a 1 game loss and pick the other 9 games for Friday.

After last season's basketball and baseball season I have to believe football has become an afterthought at Defiance........but still, thanks for doing this. As far as week one openers go, the OG- Oak Harbor game was a home and home and it will be over with after this year. Oak harbor already has a game scheduled for week 1 next year, wile OG does not. picks will be in later in the week.

This is BY FAR the least ready and prepared for football I've been in my life. Still basking in the basketball and baseball seasons from last year. Hopefully this football season at least brings some competitive games and a win or 2.........

Defiance- I remember walking out of that stadium last year absolutely disgusted by what I'd just witnessed. Between the blown call on the fumble on the kickoff and the blown 9 point lead in the last 2 minutes, I had NEVER been that upset over a loss in a high school football game in my life. I'm sure the kids and especially the coaches haven't forgotten about that either. Add in the 0-10 season, and I just sense an upset coming here. I think(maybe it's just hope) that our kids will come out fired up and ready to get the taste of 2014 out of their mouths. Maybe the ultimate homer pick, but I'm going with it.

I've been to a couple of Defiance v Napoleon games in my life. That crew, led by Bill Wonders, is the worst officiating crew I've ever seen in my life. They constantly blow calls and are ill prepared. I don't know if the short stocky guy, I think it was Diller, is still on that crew, but he just might be the worst official period I've seen in my 20 plus years of coaching. Any time that I saw that crew on one of my games I'd just get ready for frustration and start the other team with 7 points as my game planning.

I have no clue how they still get work.
