The 2013 Hall of Fame voting was announced yesterday. Not a single player on the ballot received the necessary 75% of the vote to be inducted.
My take:
Craig Biggio and Jack Morris deserve to get in. They need about 50 more votes.
I am surprised how low Curt Schilling's vote was.
Edgar Martinez gets less than half the number of votes needed. I guess DH is not a HOF-worthy position.
Alan Trammell was underappreciated when he played, and it continues in the HOF vote.
Fred McGriff's vote was surprisingly low.
Dale Murphy only received 18.6% of the votes in his last year of eligibility. Why didn't he get much more support? Hope the Vet Committee fixes this one as soon as possible.
Don Mattingly only got 13.2% of the vote. I thought he would be near the top.
The steroid era has reached the HOF ballot. The writers aren't ready to support the likes of Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Sosa and Palmeiro. If this crew ever makes it in, Peter Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson should be autmatically added.

Curt Schilling is absolutely hated by his peers and sports writers......when I look at that list, the only one's that I see deserving are Bonds, Clemens and Jack Morris......I feel that Bonds and Clemens, even though steroid use is believed and even if true.....they are both worthy with the numbers they put up before roids.......and I have no use for either one of those 2 arrogant a$$holes!!!!!!

I personally don't care one bit about the steroid stuff and WOULD vote for those guys, assuming they were, in my mind, good enough to put up big numbers without steroids. I'm not convinced Sosa, Palmeiro, or McGwire would have. My ballot this year would have been- Biggio, Morris, Bonds, Clemens, Edgar Martinez, Trammel, Piazza.
I'm shocked Biggio didn't get in honestly. 3000 hits, never a question about steroids, and seems like a good guy...he seemed like a shoo in to me. Maybe it was the fact that he was never a truly GREAT player but just really good for a long time. He'll get in eventually though.
Morris has a questionable case with his high ERA, but in the end I feel he deserves it. And I've said it before and will continue saying it til he gets in or the world ends, but if Ozzie Smith is in the Hall of Fame then Alan Trammell should be a slam dunk. Their defensive differences aren't really that much, and Trammell was a far away better offensive player. The differences were Smith played in the NL, was flashy, and played for a team people like. Trammell was stuck in the AL with Ripken and Yount, in a city that everyone loves to pile on, and he just went to work everyday not trying to make a name for himself.
Finally, I know a lot of people don't like the idea of DH's being inducted. But as long as the rule is there, they're players too. And Edger Martinez was the best to ever do it. If the argument against him is he just doesn't have the numbers, alright. If it's because he was a DH, then people need to get over it. Same with closers.

None of the Roids guys will get in. McGwires numbers have went down every yr since hes been eligible. Biggio, Morris and Tramm deserve to be in. Doesnt Jack have 300 wins?

254. I think his almost 4 ERA is REALLY hurting him, but while wins isn't the best measure of a pitcher, when a guy is the wins leader for an entire decade like he was for the 80s, wins 18, 19, and 21 games for 3 World Series teams, and wins 4 rings overall, you'd think he'd be a lock.

It mite be tough for Morris to get in but he was a big game pitcher!! I also think Biggio gets in-3000 hits!!

Morris' ERA might be a bit inflated because of his home ballparks - Tiger Stadium and the Metrodome. Neither was considered pitcher-friendly. Still, in the 80's and 90's there wasn't a better big game pitcher, and he often finished what he started. He should get in, even without 300 wins.

With Morris only having 1 year left and Maddux and Glavine eligible next year, I really doubt he gets in by the writers. The Veteran's committee very well could get him in though.
Biggio I think this year was hurt simply because he was never an elite player, just a really good one for a long period. So a lot of people see as a Hall of Famer, but not a first ballot guy. I don't know if he'll get in next year with Maddux/Glavine/Frank Thomas all on the ballot, but I think he'll have no problem getting in eventually. I don't know very many guys that get 67% in their first year and don't eventually get in.
