Mike Brown relents and trades Palmer to the Raiders for one and possibly 2 first round draft picks.

People can say what they want to about Mike Brown, but he is quite the shrewd businessman.
Let's beckon back to Corey Dillon - a RB on the decline who wanted out, but Brown said "No no no." Time and time again, I read about how the Bengals should just accept a 5th rd pick, even a 4th rd pick if someone overpaid, for Dillon. Brown stood by his guns and said no to all offers. Then the Patriots came along and paid the price of a 2nd Rd. pick for Dillon. Dillon went on to play, what, three more seasons for the Patriots? Only the first year after the trade was he really all that productive. Bengals picked Madieu Williams with the Dillon pick, who had a productive career with the Bengals before leaving for the Vikings. When he left for the Vikings, the Bengals got a 3rd Rd compensatory pick for him and picked Andre Caldwell. THE BEST PART THOUGH - There was a replacement waiting with Rudi Johnson.
Chad OchoJohnson - Wanted out, Brown said no. Teams were offering 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks for him straight up. After a while, the Redskins were rumored to offer a 1st and a potential 3rd for him. Brown still said no. Why? Because there was no replacement waiting for him! The Bengals made it back to the playoffs the next season with Ocho still at WR.
Carson Palmer - Retire rather than play. We all know the situation. ESPN has been saying that if the Bengals can get even a 3rd rd pick for him, they should be elated. Well, holy smokes, a 1st Rd in 2012 and at least a 2nd Rd in 2013? SWEET MERCY! For a guy who would never play for you again? For a guy who had already been replaced with what appears to be a competent replacement at QB? HELL YES!
So, yeah, hate on Mike Brown for being cheap, but when it comes to trades, he sure can strike a deal when he needs to!

Mike Brown is a terrible owner and cheap. You have to picks next year that you will only have long enough to make them a star but after their first year contract is out, they will be free agents and they will be gone. I will be surprised if AJ Green is still a bengal in three years.

Kind of disappointed...We only got two picks from the Raiders for Palmer earlier this week, but the Raiders got three picks from Palmer today!
