Eh, ya i remember that season as most of Ottoville probably does. The most recent shot the boys had at going to state until their point guard went down with a season ending injury.

You are correct. That was absolutely heartbreaking.

I believe that was a Miller kid, and it was at Marion Local.

Yup and what hurt the most was he was one of the better defenders and because of injury, Masg went off in that district matchup. But it happens as the basketball gods were not ready for Ottoville to win state in basketball lol

Injuries, illnesses & other things happen, that is why it is so difficult to win a State Championship. Everything has to fall into place, and with small school
they do not have much depth.

I have some more input on the Ottoville coaching situation........heard today from a reliable Fort Jennings fan that some players who had quit under the Utendorf coaching period are coming back to play now that he is gone................this just keeps getting more intriguing every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely think Utendorf is better suited for OV and Schroeder is better suited for FtJ.
I hope both do well.

That does it. FJ has the PCL in the bag next year. It's going to be a great honor for a first year varsity coach to get PCL Coach of the Year.

I bet the coaches don't want them back.

They should have consolidated together before they spent $150 million of the Ohio taxpayers' money to build both schools 10-12 years ago. Who would be the coach then? Rumors, rumors, he said, she said. Who cares?

Well looks like you got another topic to start on how soft the FJ kids are now???? Could have been because they didn't play? Who knows. I have a source who's kid is on the team and said nothing but good things about the guy. So you hear what you hear and you can think what you wanna think.

General......

They probably don't want them back......I also wonder if Todd wanted his quitters back......my point being that changing the guard in O'town probably isn't the real problem here.......wussification everyone!!!!!!!!!

Sterio....you're right......I actually do want to see Ottoville's boys back on top again.....they could be a great rival for DSJ.....like it used to be...........over the past years anytime DSJ would play Kalida, FJ, or Ottoville the games were great to view.....he!!, it was even great to watch some of the fans........I miss that!!!!!!

You can point the finger at anyone you want. I'm not sure where your credibility lies when you start calling every kid that quits a wuss, especially when you may not even know the exact reason he quit. But who knows. You could be right. Maybe it's the kid. Maybe it's the parents. Or maybe it's the coach. Bottom line is when you don't have enough kids going out to fill a varsity and Jv basketball team, that's a problem. As a coach, there is more to being judged upon other than just winning and losing.

Hagen, the point I was trying to get across is that you can hear what you want and you can think what you want. Flounder heard one thing and I heard another. Not everyone is gonna like the coach.

You just described many girls programs in the area. There must be a lot of problems at a lot of schools. Continentals numbers are way down 7-12. Sad to say this but the best girls program in the area, Ottoville, will eventually struggle to get a full JV schedule.

It will be interesting to see how many of the upperclassmen stick around.
