Considering the close proximity of DSJ/MSML, they would be stupid to NOT match them up in the semis. Let other teams make it to state. Don't put two teams from the same conference in the finals, just because you have a hard-on for the conference.

1999: DSJ 38 ML 8 (DSJ wins state championship 42-10)
2000: ML 24 DSJ 20. (ML with the game-winning touchdown on reverse pass, ends DSJ winning streak at 57. ML wins state championship 54-0)
2009: DSJ 13 ML 7 OT (DSJ loses state championship 24-21)
2011: ML 21 DSJ 14 (ML gets the ball down 7 at their own 23 with 1:29 left in the game. ML drives all the way down and scores with 32 seconds left. ML wins state championship 61-21)
Tell me, which games would YOU rather see in the state finals? These battles or the 40+ point blowouts that ensue almost every time the winner plays in the state final after these two battle it out in the semis?

To this day, that remains the greatest high school game I have ever seen.

Some times, it's not always about winning the title. You think schools in Ohio should get shut out of the the title game, just because people don't think they can win vs. the almighty MAC? Don't pair up teams that are triple+ the distance apart, just so the MAC can have a sure-fire chance of winning the state title. The OHSAA should not cater to the MAC. The OHSAA serves ALL member schools.
Besides, if I were a MAC school, I think I'd cherish the MAC championship a little more than the state title.

Then tell me why the great OHSAA made Coldwater drive to Columbus and LCC to Ashland for their final 4 games a few years ago. You are against the driving but this is just 1 instance where the 2 closest teams did not play each other because it did not fit an agenda. I can understand your point about the MAC getting preferred treatment but each year some games are set up and I am left wondering why? If you will re-bracket some divisions, you should do it for all and not pick and choose.

To say they don't deserve to be in the finals is dumb. Did they not win 4 playoff games?
