The defenses in 08 and 09 were actually, in terms of points per game given up, better than or equal to 03.
But it was never as bad as the last 2 seasons. If they can even get back to a point where instead of giving up 30 points a game, they're only giving up say 23(just one fewer touchdown per game), then they'll be a better football team. They can score 24 a game and end up with a winning record next year....they need simply need to have some pride and step up on defense. I'm not denying that they're small and probably not as talented as the great D's of the past, but there's no excuse to be as bad as they were the last 2 years. And most of it starts with tackling.

I'm sure Coach Buti is willing to accept responsibility. He is not one to pass on blame. Anyone who has watched Defiance play the last several years knows there has been a real lack of talent / material / size / speed, in the program. Lack of size and speed if not a good combination.

What do you mean? Is there a transfer coming in? Or is there a kid on the roster that you think is a beast that will become a first teamer?
The Wing-T system under Frye does a very good job of feeding the ball to their best runner, and generating massive stats.
Won't be surprised at all if Wapak has a first teamer at both RB and QB this year.
They are the biggest school in the WBL and will be the team to beat as long as Frye is there.

O-G will be a VERY good team next year, as what i have heard is that Windle is the front runner for the FB position next year which is a completely different runner than pickens and erb.... More of a small skinny QUICK kid, he can hit the hole really fast.... But we will have to wait and see

Defiance loses 10 seniors.....a few played both ways though. Offense should be fine, QB was a junior, receivers were sophomores, and the running game usually just reloads(I believe 3/5 of the line is back too). We'll see about the defense. Cautiously optimistic that they can at least win 6.

also they return all 3 D-Lineman and 1 Defensive back.
So 9 overall.
Plus Shawnee had some Somp. and Juniors getting some PT in the past season.
