2009 FINAL STANDINGS N.W.C.

TEAM CONF. OVERALL
1. Crestview 9-0 19-3
2. Bluffton 7-2 13-9
Delphos Jeff. 7-2 19-6
4. Col. Grove 6-3 17-9
5. Allen East 5-4 15-10 (beat L.C.C. head to head for #5)
6. L.C.C. 5-4 10-10
7. Paulding 3-6 3-18
8. Lincolnview 2-7 6-13
9. Spencerville 1-8 4-15
10. Ada 0-9 2-16

Remember where you heard it 1st, Allen East will suprise some teams in 2010.

And no, Snider is not the best catcher in the area. Actually Aaron Swaney from Allen East is a better catcher with a faster pop to pop. He just doesn't get all the hype Bogan gets and evidentally someone is trying to achieve a little for Snider. I have also heard through L.C.C. people, Snider works out with Allen East's coach and the Swaney kid. It will be very interesting to see who rises to the top.

Wow, you're seriously going to compare Mike Bogan with Aaron Swaney? are you kidding me? i bet if you asked every school in ohio who they'd rather have on their team, every school would say Mike Bogan because he hit .500 in the WBL which is an extremely stong baseball league

Bogan has a shot at going D1, and Swaney is good but IMO not as good as Snider. We'll just have to wait and see who ends up with a better average and who throws the most people out at 2nd.

This will not tell you anything. I highly doubt that Swaney will have to face Kine 3 or 4 times. WBL is superior to the NWC in baseball and comparing stats is not accurate.

Bluffton will be the team to beat especially playing Crestview at home. Bluffton advanced to the state acme tournament losing to eventual runner-up Springfield. Crestview has their top pitchers back but does have a middle infield to replace. They had a solid acme season with some youngsters handling the middle infield against quality teams in acme districts. LCC & Grove will be near the top with the rest battling it out for the lower half.

Candy, you must have not understood me correctly but I believe Mike Bogan is the best catcher in Northwest Ohio and far better than Swaney and Snider. But I believe Snider is better than Swaney.

I am not sure if I misunderstood you or not?? I am just saying comparing stats of players in different leagues and different divisions will not settle a debate on who is better? Unless of course the player playing in the better league and higher division has better stats.

I agree. WBL is much better than NWC.

Saw my horses from Allen East scrimmage the other day. Take back all my smack talking...for now! Was suprised to see they are a sophomore dominated squad. At the same time, a couple of those sophomores look pretty good! Tyler Stevens and Tory Anderson will be a couple names you should quite a bit of. Soph. left hander on the mound looked pretty good also. (didn't get his name) Oh yeah, Swaney caught the whole time and threw out 3 baserunners. Have to agree, the young man needs to block more consistantly. Do not know why he didn't pitch.

It sure was nice to be at a diamond watching the "boys of summer". Baseball and wrestling are like rays of sunshine out here. Hopefully the weather stays right and the season gets off to a great start.

Any other scrimmage reports?

LCC beat a good Napolean team. Linehan looked really good as well as another pitcher (I dont know his name).

Sophomore lefty would be Gossard. Who won the scrimmage AE or USV?

Spencerville varsity tied Continental 2-2, and IMO...played really crappy....still way too many errors and strike outs...luckily Deitering and Layman pitched decently and gave up no earned runs

Once their JV got in probably....but not against the varsity....it was still 2-2 when all the normal starters were pulled

Crestview has a one-two punch on the mound with Balliet & Zollers and the dynamic duo on the basketball court of Miller at ss & Rickard at 2B to take over the middle infield. Bluffton, Grove & LCC will be competing with Crestview for the top spots.

One thing that you cannot forget about Crestview is that they are pretty much a Senior led team, and many of the seniors have been playing varsity since they were Sophomores. Crestivew is definately the favorite, especially when Balliet or Zollers is on the mound. However, after those two in the rotation, it is a coin flip.

Crestview scrimmaged St. Mary's the other night and played very well. Zollers and Balliet were both very tough off the mound. Not sure how good St. Mary's is, but it is nice to see the Knights playing well early on.

Crestview is a senior laden team but I recall only 3 seniors who played varsity as sophomores in Balliet, Zollers & Speaks & Speaks did not see much playing time. The scrimmage at St Marys must have been before the snowfall. The schedule had them scrimmaging Patrick Henry on Sat March 27 but I'm guessing that didn't happen with the snow & rain.

I think you are correct. However, most of the Seniors at least have a year under their belt. The scrimmage with St. Mary's was supposed to be on Tuesday, but it got moved to Wednesday. Patrick Henry was cancelled due to the weather on Saturday. I would have loved to watch that game. It would have been a great test early on. Needless to say, most teams open this week, and it is supposed to be great weather for baseball!

Seen on the NWC website that Balliet verbally committed to Ashland. Good move on his part getting it done before the season starts. I heard he got quite a bit of money to go there. Good program too.

I think Bluffton will put up more runs than last year, and Cheney and Goldsberry will be possible all conference selections.
The rotation is really stacked this year and should keep the Pirates in every conference game.
