WBL Prediction Contest, Week 6

(5-0) Wapak at Celina (3-2)
(5-0) O-G at Defiance (1-4)
(5-0) St. Marys at Bath (1-4)
(2-3) Kenton at Shawnee (1-4)
Game of the week: I guess it has to be Wapak at Celina. The Bulldogs are just one game back of the tri-leaders and probably can't afford another loss for a playoff trip. They have a pretty good defense, but is there enough offense to compete with the 2-time defending champs?
Last week, 20 people entered, 1 person who previously made picks every week didn't, leaving 16 of those people left. Best week ever? 16 out of the 20 people had perfect picks, maybe the best percentage ever, only 4 people who picked Elida didn't win all 5 games. The consensus easily went 5-0, and the 4 unanimous picks might be the most ever in a week, or at least tied the most ever.

Elida offense vs. VW defense: 21.8 (5th in the WBL)/38.4 (10th)
VW offense vs. Elida defense: 12.6 (9th)/21.6 (5th)
Last 10 in series: Tied 5-5, streak: 1 (Elida)
Last year, Elida outgained Van Wert by almost 150 yards but had to hang on and win a shootout, 38-34. It was the beginning of a 4-game win streak that just came up short of the playoffs for Elida, with a week 10 loss to Bath. Van Wert slumped to a 2-3 second half record to finish 5-5, tied for its best record since a 6-4 2004 season.
Wapak at Celina
Celina offense vs. Wapak defense: 16.4 (6th)/10.2 (2nd)
Wapak offense vs. Celina defense: 27.8 (4th)/10.2 (2nd)
Last 10: Wapak leads 8-2, streak: 3 (Wapak)
Last year, Wapak jumped out to a big early lead and held off a better 2nd Celina half to win 35-14. The game basically ended up deciding the league title and Wapak went on to its 2nd straight undefeated season and Celina finished alone in 2nd place at 7-2, suffering an upset loss to Van Wert later, which did not cost Celina a playoff spot.
O-G at Defiance
O-G offense vs. Defiance defense: 33.4 (2nd)/29.2 (7th)
Defiance offense vs. O-G defense: 12.6 (8th)/8.0 (1st)
Last 10: O-G leads 8-2, streak: 2 (O-G)
Last year, Defiance kept things close until half against a more powerful Titan team before falling, 33-6. O-G lost twice more in the regular season but still easily made the playoffs and won a game, while Defiance squeaked out 2 wins, a year after going winless.
St. Marys at Bath
St. Marys offense vs. Bath defense: 45.0 (1st)/26.6 (6th)
Bath offense vs. St. Marys defense: 16.4 (6th)/14.6 (3rd)
Last 10: 5-5, streak: 4 (Bath)
Last year, Bath actually gave 10th-ranked St. Marys its first loss of the season, holding it to 68 yards rushing, which caused the Riders’ season to spiral into a 6-4, non-playoff finish. Bath didn’t lose again, after a 2-3 start, but lost out on the playoffs on a tiebreaker. This might have been the biggest upset at the time of the game, of the 2015 season.
Kenton at Shawnee
Kenton offense vs. Shawnee defense: 29.2 (3rd)/35.2 (9th)
Shawnee offense vs. Kenton defense: 8.2 (10th)/31.8 (8th)
Last 10: Kenton leads 8-2, streak: 7 (Kenton)
Last year, Kenton actually rushed for more yards than it passed, in an offensively low 21-14 score. Neither team won another game as Kenton finished with just 2 wins, Shawnee zero.

(2-3) Elida at Van Wert (0-5) Elida wins easily. What has happened to VW?
(5-0) Wapak at Celina (3-2) - Skins keep winning, but margin is thin.
(5-0) O-G at Defiance (1-4) - Titans getting better each week. Great Coach.
(5-0) St. Marys at Bath (1-4) - Riders on a serious roll, better than most thought. Bath . . .. . ?
(2-3) Kenton at Shawnee (1-4) - would like to see Shawnee win, but won't happen.

(5-0) Wapak at Celina (3-2): Wapak should win by two TD's. Celina is better than their record indicates but not good enough to beat Wapak. Weekly reminder that if Wapak doesn't finish this regular season undefeated it will be a failed season. They have by far the most talent available of any team in the WBL but next year they will take a step back.
(5-0) O-G at Defiance (1-4): Defiance is actually better than 1-4. I honestly believe they will be competing for a league title again in 2018-2019 with the young core that Kline is establishing. Unfortunately it will be a face pounding this week.
(5-0) St. Marys at Bath (1-4): SM continues on their tear of teams that barely win a game. Their season begins in Week 9. If they go 8-2 with losses the last two weeks it is a failed season.
(2-3) Kenton at Shawnee (1-4): Would love to see Shawnee put a scare into Kenton, and it could happen but I don't think it will happen.

I'll admit that they aren't as talented as last year. Cameron Lauck was the best player in the WBL and was an absolute game breaker. You don't replace a guy like that.
BUT
Looking at the rest of the league the talent gap overall is still extremely highly swayed in Wapak's favor.
With their athletes and their excellent coaches they SHOULD win the WBL and go 10-0, if they don't it's a disappointment.
Also, thanks to all the people putting in their opinions in here with their picks to help make this a more lively discussion (sarcasm).

I think the WBL will go to St. Marys this year. They look unstoppable. Not a fan of them either.
