It has been a year and a lot has changed... This past week seems to have added some fuel to the fire at 195 after XXXXX defeated XXXXX... What are some predictions for Saturday? Who are the contenders? CORRECTION: As mackreeks stated Buettner did indeed defeat Huffman 8-4... No excuse other than accelerated typing...

From the WBL, looks like Elida and Bath are the two best. Of the DIII schools, look like LCC has the best top end kids, but may not have the depth to sustain top-end team success in a pool style tournament.

The tournament appears to be more balanced and up in the air than at any point in the past. Are top 4 Elida, Bath, LCC, DSJ (in no particular order)? If so, which of those 4 would be favorite? For some reason, I am leaning toward Elida, but I have no real evidence, just a gut feeling. WBL seems to have deeper teams traditionally, and Elida defeated Bath in a close dual is my best evidence.

OK, I'll bite.

bigsportman - Good point on those three having to sit; completely forgot that.

In regard to the concept of recruits, I am not sure if you talked to those wrestlers that they would indicate they were "recruited". Lucas in particular would probably tell you he left a situation where he was maligned and sought a place he felt more comfortable. Bath is in chaos; I am not so shocked that Cunningham went somewhere, but rather that more wrestlers did not seek different options.

If you are an example of the schools these wrestlers left, perhaps those who went to LCC were seeking a school that would teach them how to spell "half"?

Lifetime...So who do you see coming to the top? When will seed nominations be posted? After last night it seems like LCC has moved into a frontrunner position. Elida did indeed defeat Bath and that should in itself give them some serious confidence moving into this weekend. When the seed nominations come out and we see where everyone is wrestling I would guess more predictions will be made. Top Four is definitely LCC, Elida, DSJ, Bath (No real order) SEEDING CRITERIA IS IN!!!

Looking at baumspage, it would seem that neither LCC nor DSJ will be competitive as teams with the number of open wight classes they have. I see Elida and Bath battling it out on sheer numbers alone, with the other Shawnee, Jefferson, & S'ville possilby battling for 3-5.

These are merely guesses; from an honest perspective, this is a fairly weak year for the tournament - no team seems to be heads above the rest.

This might be the year to watch the tournament with every weight class up for grabs...

Allen East defeated Delphos St. Johns in a dual just the other night - wouldn't count them out of the championship.

Congratulations to Elida for their championship effort Saturday; truly a testament that full teams have an advantage on pool tournaments. 5 teams in the 200+ point range with another team close to the 200 indicates a very balanced tournament. Bath, Allen East, Jefferson, St. Johns and Spencerville had good tournaments as well. Thought all teams wrestled hard. Good luck to all Allen County teams as you move into the heart of your schedules!

LCC will be a better individual tournament team (maybe) - once Cunningham and Lucas become eligible. Pool tourneys not in their favor. I learned a long time ago (as a coach) not to build up any team, preseason; especially to the media / put much stock in preseason predictions / rankings - a lot of things happen throughout a season (injuries, not making wt., some not coming out, numbers, quitters, not filling wt. classes, etc.) In my statement to the media - I always used "cautious optimism" to define my outlook (emphasizing the word cautious). that way if good things happened, I could always smile.
