not what we needed, but not that big of a loss in my opinion........
You'll be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field. - Jim Tressel

Not so fast my friends. In an article not being covered by espn and the such showing their bias towards the big ten yet again this season. Columbus Dispatch reports Donald Washington is appealing the suspension.Columbus Dispatch - Corner reportedly appeals suspension

I think the proper message would be to have Donald Washington sit the 1st series.

Heres a new one. I have to agree though with a few of the people who posted comments below the article. These 2 kids did everything right, got good grades, used up all their eligibility etc. I am surprised this is against the rules, as I do not see this giving OSU any advantage. Oh well thats the NCAA for ya.

Technically, they were still on scholarship. There has to be a line, fair or not.

Tressel is being deceptive. Anthony Gonzales redshirted in 2003, played in 2004, 05 & 06. He was eligible to come back as a 5th year senior.

Your right Victorian...I didn't think about the fact that Gonzo did indeed have eligibility left. But as soon as he signed with an agent, which I think he had before this trip, his eligibility was gone. But I have to agree..rules are rules..but personally think this a crappy one under the circumstances. And I say that no matter what school is involved. Now If...and BIG IF, Tress took Gonzo and Stan were taken along so Tress could strut them around in front of recruits, that would be a different story. I honestly feel Tress was rewarding these guys for thier accomplishments off the feild, which could be construed as wrong...oh well..like I said...NCAA is what it is..

With Washington out, that would have hurt us. Good thing he is able to play in this game. GO BUCKS

I fail to understand what being on scholarship has to do with what Tressel did as being wrong? Gonzales had signed with an agent. He was no longer eligible to return to OSU as a 5th yr senior athletic. Just because the season is over doesn't mean you lose your scholarship. Look at the number of players that go on the autograph tour. If they are still on scholarship according to NCAA rules, shouldn't it be consider crossing the line to accept money for signing them autographs?

I'm just speculating. I have no idea why the NCAA does 95% of the %$^& they do.
Nervous about the title game? Touchy.
